Bashur's Modded Oblivion Longplay!

Post » Mon Apr 25, 2011 9:11 am

Spoiler
Much like my Fallout Chronicles Modded Let's Play (http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=83654BA5A846986F), my subscribers have voted and they've decided they would like to see some Oblivion Modded goodness. With that, this thread will be here to document EVERY single step I take along the way, much like this thread for Fallout: http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1091467-adventures-in-the-wasteland-and-beyond/ The most important part of that thread is the 2nd post, the MODs and the steps I took to download/install/play them. The 2nd post of this thread will be the same thing.

This is just a heads up to those out there that believe I would enjoy showing off their mods! Or others mods, who knows. So if you believe there is a mod that just HAS to be in my Let's Play, then post it here with a link and why.

Adventures in Cyrodiil and Beyond
A crazy Dunmer's adventure of romance, war, espionage, smuggling, political & social intrigue, mystery, crime, and highwaymen.

I will update this thread once every week
This thread is to track the progression of my Oblivion Longplay. The game I'm playing is completely Modded, so I expect some crazy things to happen that you won't see in the Vanilla Oblivion. If anyone is interested, this is the thread that will keep it updated. I don't expect it to really ever end end, but who knows.

Question: What exactly is a "Longplay"?
Answer: You can find information about Longplays http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Longplay.

 Ok, before you do ANYTHING in Oblivion, do get a proper UI interface: search for "darnified" on Tesnexus :) there is the standard colored version and a "darkUI darn" version. http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1146510-good-ui-mod-for-widescreen/

I will not be playing as Khaij the Khaij during the real playthrough. As fun as he was, he destroyed my throat doing his voice. I will be playing Ash'ur, the Disturbed Dunmer Spellsword.

Aye! DarkUI Darn edition is essential to all my playthroughs. The dark interface prevents my retina from being destroyed every time I'm in a dark dungeon and have to open up my interface. ;)

Bashur, yours could develop into something entertaining, I can smell that. :hubbahubba:

Maybe just a note for your consideration if you permit. I'm not entirely convinced that once you have sorted out what mods you are going to feature and play for your diary whether the diary itself should be posted in the "Mods" forum. So eventually down the line you may wish to ask the moderators to move it for you (to the fanfiction section I would guess).

I don't know if you already have any gaming experience with Oblivion. Are you going to play a gameplay-changing mod? Well the most complete overhaul of the game in terms of gameplay is the "FCOM: Convergence" project/mod. Installing it can be a little bit of a drama though. So maybe you will be happy of playing "only" the Oscuro Oblivion Overhaul or OOO for short which is an extremely well-conceived and beautifully implemented mod. If you need guidance as to what gameplay mod to grab you may wish to read http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/820948-scaling-overhaul-comparison/. It's become something of a classic here.

Then obviously there are a million mods with which you can tweak and finetune the game to your liking. Keep asking or search a bit here. :)

Sorry if what I'm telling you is already old news to you.

It's cool, I like how you're actively trying to help! I know most of this stuff by now, and this won't be my first playthrough. Also the Diary isn't going to be a fiction thing, it's just going to List the order in which I do things like download mods, install mods, uninstall mods, etc etc. At the top of the original post, you can see a spoiler button. Click that and it will take you to a link of my Fallout version. You'll see a sorta fleshed out version of it there in the second post. It's mainly to help people who are interested in re-creating the same experience. They can literally follow step by step, download by download, install by install and recreate the exact same modded game.

I will most defiantly be using FCOM.

Interesting. I've never seen Oblivion with the full FCOM experience.

Are the Unofficial Patches on your mod list?
Also, will you be using a spell overhaul (like L.A.M.E. by Bg2408) or a spell addition (like Midas Magic)?

But my personal suggestion would be playing the Ayleid Steps mod.

I can only hope I'll be able to watch this live.

Yes. He said he was going to record it live. So it's safe to assume it will be available to watch on youtube.

Well hey! Nice to see you on here again, Bash! And planning another Oblivion LP. Nice. All I can say is that there have been quite a few nice little mods that have come out while you've been gone; If you'd like a list of what I use, just PM me :)

Also, I second The Ayleid Steps. It's an absolutely amazing mod.

@fallout fan boy: I'm pretty sure that's the plan/ It's what he's done for most of his LPs.

Yeah very nice, I think you have to install OBSE and some of the Plugins from OBSE. And I think you have to install Deadly Reflex 6, as long as it works on your system correctly ;D

Armamentarium! This is a mod that changes weapons and armour, but not in the traditional sense. Instead of having your basic varieties of armour (iron, steel, dwarven, etc.) There are way more. For example, iron has varieties such as iron and black. More info & download:

    Enjoy!

Bashur, you also absolutely necessarily need to install the Oblivion Stutter Remover. Otherwise we will all see only a lot of stuttering in the videos and getting all  in the process....

There seem to be a lot of new emoticons available, like this... :mage:

It will be live, and on YouTube. I'm going to be recording while I play, so people can watch it as it happens, or they can watch it whenever on YouTube.

    Awesome! Thanks!

Also, if anyone else has suggestion, could you please provide me with a link to the MOD you're talking about? It saves me a lot of time (and stress sometimes), and I would really appreciate it, thanks!

A personal favorite mod of mine is http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=19067. It lets you set a weapon as 'specialized' and as you use that weapon it grows more powerful. (Also works for shields, I think).

Also http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=21557 which adds items to leveled list that will let you sharpen bladed weapons, or weight blunt ones to make them stronger.

    Edit:

Almost forgot, http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=35560. Adds 625 weapons and reskins Rusty Iron and Fine Iron weapons to actually look rusty or fine, respectively.
