Basic 360 Layout Controls

LT to sprint? what a dumb spot for it... I rather third person their and sprint at Right bumper.. which is right joystick.. Right? I rather at left joystick though..

Well it's already been confirmed that, and I think you meant LB instead of LT btw, that LB will be sprint. And if you still think LT is sprint I'd look at that pic one more time.

Ummmm, the only problem i see is the button that you press to manipulate items in the world. LB on xbox 360 in oblivion. If that's no longer in the game i'll be a bit disappointed, it's been in oblivion, fallout 3 and NV and i hope it's in skyrim, i don't want to go back to the old morrowind system of placing items in my house. I trust bethesda though, they'll most likely put it in somehow.

I'm assuming it's the same basic layout for the PS3 and as far as PC goes...I have no knowledge or a single idea, of what the controls would be.

@Dragonborn1...yeah they do do a power attack when you are wielding whatever it is you're wielding but Proditus is probably right...when you're not wielding anything you could hold desired trigger until wielded.

Off topic with a little bit of randomness.......I really wanna see a damn dark elf :tes:

I'll give you the starting layout. Todd has mentioned that the mouse buttons will be the equivalent of left and right triggers. You can also probably assume that "WASD" will be the basic movement layout, with Q and E allowing strafing perhaps? I don't have Oblivion or Fallout 3 on PC unfortunately, so I can't really make any other guesses.

@Blacksmithvhan- I'm under the impression the sprint button will only activate when a person is moving. Perhaps the LB will still be used as the grab mechanic to manipulate items and corpses (I doubt they would take it out).

But if anything can be put in left bumper/joystick it should be an autosave button... It'd be quite helpful.. In options, you have the choice to make it overlap old or constantly make new...

L1 (ps3) is sprint and R1 is dragon shout.

OK.. forgot.. but if sprint is that button i won't throw the controller at the screen... But i might just comment and change myself.. But now about the buttons that aren't being used... They could be used for many things.. One of my main would be, and autosave button....

You're probably right, it wouldn't make sense to have such nice physics and no way to interact with them lol. They'll figure something out, there's lots of possibilities.

L1 is sprint/grab and R1 is dragon shout on the ps3. LB/RB on 360 is like L1/R1 on PS3.

How could Grab and Sprint be the same button?

While you are stationary, the player would be able to use grab. While you are moving, the player would be able to use sprint. Simple enough.

Another way is the player would tap LB to use the grab mechanic, while the player would have to hold LB to use sprint.

Either way works.

Yea it makes sense and would work just fine. They can't remove the grab feature.

I just hope they let you play with southpaw sticks (unlike Oblivion on the 360). Some of us have played FPS for over a decade using the right thumb stick to walk and the left to look around, that's a lot of training to try and reverse.

I agree that grab & sprint sharing a button would make sense. Granted, another easy solution would be to simply have the 1st person/3rd person toggle be a menu option rather than clicking in the right stick. This would free up a button and work just fine.

Whichever is the "menu" button and unequip from there, or thats what i would figure.

I like the sheath both and press"attack" on which one you want not sheathed.

Those are still "workarounds" though. If I don't want to go into the menu, or sheathe both at the same time and then unsheathe the one I want, what do I do? Sheathing both and then unsheathing the one I want is unintuitive when I can press a single button to sheathe one of them to begin with.

Left bumper for 3rd person camera.

For general continuity between games the R and L button should be switched on PS3 controls (not sure how games normally play on 360 so I don't know if that is good there) meaning right/left attack/block should be R1/L1 not R2/L2 and R2 should be dragon shout and L2 sprint/grab (grab added per previous suggestions in the thread). L3 should be sneak, though I think that had been mentioned already, too.

There is one other function missing I believe they have mentioned and that is a quick select, the logical way to do that I think would be made the D-pad out side of the menu bring up one or two (depending on how they set it up) selections similar to the way it was in Oblivion and you would push right and R1 to select something for your right hand or L1 to put it in your left hand (hopefully that is understandable).
