Basic Landscaping Questions

Post » Thu Jun 14, 2012 8:08 am

I'm making a simple mod for my character that adds an interior with an island and a house on it that can be telelported to by drinking a potion or something. But I'm trying to make the island and I realized that I don't know how to make it work. I know that somehow you can have water and everything, but I don't know how to put it there. Any tips?

World>Interior Cell>Whatever Your Cell Is Called>Check the box next to "Has Water">Set Height.

For the actual landscape, I believe there's some meshes that look like land.

Thanks, didn't see that! And I think I'll just make the cell in an exterior cell then use TesFaith to export it as a mesh and bring it into the interior cell :)

A couple of queries, if you don't mind... First, are you certain TesFAith does that? The reason I ask is this - "Cell-to-Nif" turns exterior landscape into a nif, and works well at that but... texturing then becomes something of a nightmare. The texture has to be added the same as any other nif, and it comes out stretched into a truly terrible shape. The idea of UV mapping one or more cells boggles my mind (I have issues using Blender ta all).

So, if TesFaith will indeed create a nif that can be moved to an interior, the question then becomes whether or not the original textures will remain intact?

I've used TesFaith in the past to move landscape, and it worked well other than some issues with height differences in various places on the edges, but I am unaware of any capacity to copy to an interior. I believe TesFaith works by raising existing land to specified heights according to the cell being copied, but in an interior, there is no land to raise.

If it will work as you say, that would be terrific!
