Basic G.E.C.K question

Post » Fri May 04, 2012 6:03 pm

I don't want to use the GECK to create modded guns or houses within Fallout. Is it possible tomake my own mini games completely separate than the Fallout world? For example, a new wasteland or vault (not in the Fallout world). I know I'd probably start small and make my own hallway and I understand I'd have to use the Fallout items, but I don't want to be part of the Fallout world. Sorry, I don't know if I'm clear or not...I'm learning about the GECK. Thanks!

Note:
I don't own Fallout or a gaming computer yet (I play it on XBOX 360). I've created a post in New Vegas General Discussion "New computer build - will I be able to use best settings?" asking for input about what parts to get so that I can play FO3 on the best settings.

Yes, you could create your own world space and set it up so the player never leaves it / sees the default game world, but unless you keep it tiny it's going to be a massive undertaking. You need to start small if you want to accomplish anything. And by small, I mean see if you can add a one room shack to the game world; you'll need to learn how to make the interior cell and a door that connects it to the world, and ideally place a structure in the game world with the other end of the door. You need to learn how to use the editor before you can make anything substantial.

Thanks, at least I know what I could make. I will start very small, and I'll keep my expectations to a minimum in the beginning.
