Bathory's Nordland as Skyrim hymn!

Opeth is better than any of these guys.

Blech, Opeth is boring and not epic at all, just sad.

Here's another http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QyZxiYeuabM&feature=related for you, sice they're really fizzling cool.
And I'm also gonna mention http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cvaH5yVGbcg, they're not really viking themed, but pirates are like a more modern version of vikings right? sort of? Also, most of their songs are alcoholically themed, so yay!

Okay okay. That was too far on my part. I was in a bad mood this morning but it's no excuse for being a dike.

Sorry guys. Honestly I listen to metal too, just not normally the hardcoe stuff.

Bathory is hardcoe? Dohohoho

I love http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UqmgpuZLsXQ&feature=feedlik's clear and strong vocals. Just like Kyne.
That's how I imagine the greybeards on High Hrothhgar to sound like.

What about http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LzjW--KUH1g (It's still melodic death metal though, so most of you won't like the vocals)
Or http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SXjF9po2hYk&feature=related :D (A bit softer)

Never listened to Tyr, but they sound cool and about Amon Amarth, I personally like them.
Still, they are soft compared to some stuff I listen (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8o7SamPkmeg).

That would be ridiculous.

Yeah I know.
It's only meant to be a joke though. :)

In Morrowind and Oblivion I stuck to the folky-ness of http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3MtENaKCtSY
But Skyrim needs something a bit more harsh.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sWyfnp-ghaE

Edit: Fixed links

YES!
Havenless fits so great it hurts! :D

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vqEBPpg7M6A's At the hearth of winter always makes me want to ride through frozen tundra's.

Immortal is much better for Dremora Christmas songs. :hehe:

Sorry, but I just can't stand metal.

Then don't. :frog:

Metal will never be in any TES, and I'm glad for that.

Of course it won't.
This thread is not serious about making this be a song for Skyrim.

I kinda hoped for something good out of this but this sounds like something 13 year olds would listen to while they mutilate cats.

I didn't think Skyrim would attract this type of demographic. Nords=/=Norse. Hope all the elves, orcs and redguards don't ruin the game for ya.

Summoning : Long Lost To Where No Pathway Goes http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=txdsH7kxfNY :) This is epic, gives a special feeling

Great, but I think it would fit Morrowind better. :)

Skyrim already has an epic theme tune based on the Morrowind theme. :flamethrower:

Really?
Wow, then you must be only one who knows about this since no one else here on forums knows about that.

And exactly what does this have to do with Skyrim, really?

I'm gonna try to not let the fact that I dislike metal affect my post too much, but it's kind of ridiculous. I'm not saying that metal itself is ridiculous, but the thing that annoys me is that all too many people who listen to metal consider it to be more "Viking" and "bad-ass" than other genres. The most authentic Viking music is folk music. You know what music I'm going to listen to while slaying dragons? It's Skyrims' theme music! The only reason people even associate metal with Vikings is because some bands tend to sing about it, but the style of the music hardly ever fits what they're singing about. At least in my opinion...

The musical parts are good, but I hate the vocals. (Never get the whole gargling and grunting thing well that comes with all that death metal)

The Nordland album doesn't have harsh vocals (Hammerheart does on the grounds that Quorthon couldn't actually sing then).

This post reminds me of a concert review in one of Sweden's largest newspapers about ten years ago. The band in question was Slayer, and the reporter's first line in the article was "I've never enjoyed metal"

the score? -1/5

There are too many good songs that would fit. Can't choose a single one, so I had to vote no.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NVr6qzfpdas
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ZzTD3qP52U
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eDE_oeYC_GM&feature=related

Not directly related to northern lands, but still epic soundtracks for Skyrim:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kgNoadKcIWg & http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zCWeufCP1Rc

Holy crap, I'm impressed someone knows of Menhir. I don't even see people discussing them much in the Metal Threads in Community Discussion (then again, I haven't looked at them in ages, but whatever). Personally,http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PY1NcwWVEBk&feature=related has always reminded me of some sort of pagan gathering around a midnight fire. For those who don't like metal, this is more of a folk song than metal so it's safe to listen to. :P

Yeah, this is one 110% serious thread witch actually works as petition for Bethesda to implement metal into TES lore because it would fit so great and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h05YfP_8UsU... oh wait...

The Nordland album doesn't have harsh vocals (Hammerheart does on the grounds that Quorthon couldn't actually sing then).

I think that he was talking about post above his. :)

No, Opeth are a stupidly hyped up band who really don't live up to this "Gods of everything" thing they seem to portray themselves as.

They have only recently hit mainstream success in the last few years, in the whole 20 years they've been around. No different than the way you are hyping the bands in this thread. If they ever manage to achieve the same success, people like you will be saying they are "overhyped" as well. You are not original, and neither are any of these bands you praise.

Blech, Opeth is boring and not epic at all, just sad.

Based on what? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p8atiEPs0bQ

gtfo.

No, I don't think I will. Thanks anyway.

The bands that I/we have been praising are, I'm sorry about this, more original than Opeth. I enjoy listening to Opeth, I own Blackwater Park (despite regretting buying it). It's alright. Nothing special. Listen to In Mourning and Mercenary, then tell me Opeth are gods of prog metal.

Anyway...
