I thought Batman Arkham Asylum was one of the best action games I had ever played. And I'm not really a Batman fan. My only issue with it was it's length.

I can't wait for Arkham City to come out.

Edit: And it won't "ruin" Skyrim's chances at Game of the Year. That's just a silly comment.

Totally different games.

In Batman Arkham you are Batman. In Skyrim who can be whomever you damn well want to be, and go wherever you want to go!

well considering Batman Arkham city is Open-world, with tons of Side quests , and yes, you can Level up to gain new moves items and such,

it will give a good fight for the GOTY

Hmm, kinda makes me want to play Arkham Asylum, I have it here but I've never properly played it :/

I still think Skyrim will get GOTY, multiple games get given that title in the same year. Well done to Rocksteady for making BM:AC be a great game.

I wouldn`t say "Here is our Skyrim GOTY Killer" based on 1 rating from OPM Australia. Although to be honest, i wouldn`t be bothered that much anyway as i will be way too busy playing Skyrim to worry about other games.

I think Portal 2 will give Skyrim a run for it's money, but it came out so long ago that everyone will have forgotten it's awesomeness.

There is a difference between open world and sandbox though. Skyrim is both

Right from the beginning of the year I said the three games I was going to get would be 1) Skyrim 2) Mass Effect 3 (but then it got postponed) and 3) Batman: AC

I know that AC and Skyrim were going to be my two favourites this year, being an obsessed fan of the Elder Scrolls (but hey, I'm not on the AC forums) and thoroughly enjoying Arkham Asylum and being a massive DC fan (and Marvel). Skyrim will, hopefully (if its as good as it looks), still get tons of GOTY awards - its just that AC will as well. Nope, the Elder Scrolls series is my favourite of the two. And always will be. :tes:

This. The first game never really registered on my radar. I mean, I saw people talk about it, but my interest was never piqued. (And I like the Batman movies and the original animated series.)

And as for "GOTY"..... meh, don't really care about that either. As mentioned, a billion different magazines and websites give them out. But even then, who cares? Only thing GOTY means to me is the possibility of a "super bulk package with DLC included" version of a game on the shelf two years from now for $20. Could honestly care less about awards a game gets... if I enjoy it, I enjoy it even if it has no awards. And a game that has a billion awards and praise from one end of the net to the other can still leave me going "So? I don't like this." (Demon's Souls, for instance. I can't imagine wanting to play that game.)

Kingeliran...you seem to have a slightly wrong idea about what GoTY awards are...there are a lot of them and games like Batman, Rage, Skyrim, Battlefield 3, Dues Ex: HR etc. are sure to get some.
Also, this is a single review...Oblivion got several 10/10 back in the days and I suspect Skyrim will as well.

So no...Batman will in no way threaten Skyrim in any way...

I think video games are art and it doesn't compute with me that art would be in a competition. It's all personal preference. At my house, Skyrim is GOTY. If someone else likes something else, that's fine and there are other games that outsell TES but that still doesn't make them GOTY at my house. I played Arkham Asylum. It was a good game and I heard how it really was a great BATMAN game because the ones before it just weren't good. That's great. I may play it someday but open world games is what I love and on that, Skyrim delivers. :)

Ok, I'm sure it will be great, if you are into it. Beth will make their money off of Skyrim though, and I'm sure it will get a slew of GOTY awards before it is all said and done. Skyrim will do fine.
