Batman suit

Some pictures from the first tests in game (don't look at the textures, they are some quick textures just for testing the meshes in game. They need a lot of work :) ):

Kewl!

Now we only need the "POW!" "BANG!" "KAZAAM!" fight sounds to go with it :P

Hi Ashara,

I hope your well.

I hope you dont mind, but I`m a big fan of Batman, and seeing your awesome armor I couldnt resist.

I made 2 Batarang weapons for you to use.

A little video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TEqvD7Fszpw

Here`s a link to the Animated meshes and textures I made. http://www.mediafire.com/?rnnwzy1jd0k

There`s no pressure to use them with your Batsuit just because I made them. I can release it seperately or something.

Anyways, I hope you like them.

Take care

Wow sky, those are great! I can't wait to use this set, I'm very sad at the fact that I have little to no geck skills, although I can do really basic stuff like building a cave, I can draw out blue prints and put them up on photobucket so you all can see what it'd take to get this started up into a team effort.

Edit: Here you go! :D

Because we don't want to have gigantic images clogging up threads, so the [img] code was disabled. Using tidy links to click on works nicely though ;)

Hi Skykappa,

They are awesome! I would have never been able of making something so good as those batarangs! :) I think that you'd rather release them yourself, as you've made them and I would feel as if I were stealing your work if I release them :) I only ask to you for permission to use them as a basis for Dark Knight batarangs (with the shape they have in the film) if I am ever tempted to add those to my mod.

Kudos to you :goodjob:

That's impressive Enigmatic! And it would mean a lot of work, too. Now I understand why you were talking about a team work :D

Thanks Ashara and everyone.

But most of my work gets released as part of someone else. It`s kinda the way I prefer to operate. Also, what use are the Batarangs without the Suit? lol

You release them with your awesome suit. It`s less mods for me to support that way. As I only really like making the models and textures. So if you need them reworking to be simpler like the Movie version, no problem just let me know. I can also tell you how to set them up in GECK if you need.

Take care

Oh come now it's not that bad... I haven't used Blender but in 3Ds max it's as easy as render to texture.

Well, CrazyAce, that probably depends on the person. For me, UV mapping is the worst part. I enjoy making the models and I like making textures, but I hate making the UV maps ;)

That would make a lot of work for a simplistic companion mod. The building of the bat cave would take about 2-3 months with a full team.

Have you try Headus UVLayout? It makes the process so much faster, and it's quite easy to use.

Thanks onyx. Well, I don't think I will have time to do all the great ideas all of you are suggesting. I am a really slow modder, as you can see on how long it is taking me to finish only the suit. But maybe another person will have the time to make a Batman companion ;)

And for somebody as slow as I am, it will probably take a year!

Get this guy to do the voice for the Batman companion: (kidding BTW)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w2yv8aT0UFc&feature=video_response.... sooo funny

You only need to release the suit really. There are plenty of companion mods that players can download that allow you to choose which amour your follower wears and which weapon they use.

How`s the UV mapping coming along? Would you mind if I make an alternative texture for the suit once its released? I have a few ideas involving destruction stages.

Take care

Not really that hard to do, Just make the mysterious stranger throw batarangs and wear the suit. A lil self modding, but not entirely that hard.

You think if I got ashara to start up a team for this mod you could join us sky?

Lol! Of course I have the black widow perk! :hubbahubba:

Tell you what, I'll volunteer for a simple job, and I'll try to improve my skills with the geck, I'll look out for a scripter, uv mapper, Elite builder, stuff like that. And dumb question...But did you check the suit's compatibility with the different type of Pipboys?

Reading Ashara`s previous posts in this thread, I get the feeling she doesnt want to take if any further than an armor, I think she only agreed to the Batarang weapon because I already made them anyway.

So I cant see her putting a team together to work on a large Batman mod. But thats just a guess. I cant speak for her obviously. I may of course be wrong.

I`d have to decline the offfer to join any team though, on the grounds that I`m a Mysterious Wandering Modder..... I go where I`m needed and have my own theme music....lol.

Just kidding. I`m actually pretty tied up with my own large scale mod at the moment and one smaller one. And, I couldnt do any better than the existing Arkham Asylum Batman game.

Check out the http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=1055714 if you have a chance.

Thanks anyways then, it'd just be nice to have another texture helper if we were to put together a team for this project, the idea is to make the tumbler, all the "gifts" in the 'cave's trophy room, a scripter to make the car ramp and all its functions work, And Wayne mansion would also be a nice idea. The idea would be that it'd be in either Point lookout, or by Global Travel service in its own worldmap, which would require a larger team to create the outsides of the manor... If anyone is interested, pm me.

Lol! That's brilliant, Skykappa :biglaugh: Those guys are great actors! ;)

I think I've finished the UV maps, at least for the momment. I may have to adjust them if I meet some problems when texturing. I've just begun making the textures. Of course I won't mind you making alternate textures! :)

But did you check the suit's compatibility with the different type of Pipboys?

Well, Enigmatic, i only use the vanilla pipboy and I've made a PipBoyOn mesh for the part of the left arm that goes into the Pipboy. I hope that will cover all other possibilities :)

That sounds really good, Enigmatic :)

I would love to be able of joining a team for making all that but I don't feel I can take the responsability of doing that. I have little time for modding due to work and real life compromises, and I am quite new to modding. All that means that it takes me weeks to finish things that people with either more free time or much better skills than me, will finish in hours or days. I won't feel right being part of a project in which I won't be sure if I am capable of meeting the deadlines.

I also get bored easily. That is why I prefer to release incremental versions of mods. That way I build something not too big and see the results relatively quickly.
That incremental way of releasing mods also helps me to reduce the preassure of trying to do a lot of things at the same time ending up doing none of them. I try to apply the maxim:
"How Do You Eat An Elephant?
One Bite at a Time."
Changing "elephant" by "ambitious mod" and "bite" by "version" :)
I've done it this way with my Sirens mod, and that way I've been able of working on it for more than six months, but at the end I got bored and I never built any underwater city as was my initial intention.

Having said that, I hope you'll understand that right now I can only say that I will release the suit and Skykappa batarangs. That is something I am sure I can do (God willing, of course). After that, I will love to release the Tumbler, the Batpod, the Batcave, Alfred, a Batman companion and all the other great ideas that you've written here. But, I don't know if I will be able of making all those things before getting completeley bored or in a reasonable amount of time. I prefer not to promise what I am not sure I can do. I hate disappointing people.

And of course, I love the idea of other people building their mods on what I have done or being inspired by my work or my ideas :)

We've all got real life to deal with, and I know what you mean by getting bored of things really easily, I have the same problem, its mostly the reason I don't know jack about the geck functions... And with enough members of a bat-fan team we'd have it done in absolutely no time.
