In the viking age it was looked on as blasphemy to name your child Thor, Freyja or from any of the other gods.
They never did it.
However, if you use a gods name and combine it with another name, then it is accepted. Many Norwegian/norse names are example of this, Torbj?rn(thor-bear), Torulf(Thor-wolf), Torgrim(Thor-face/mask(meaning "like thor")),Torstein(Tor-stone), Havtor(sea-thor), Bergtor(mountain-thor) and so on.
