Battle of Kvatch

Post » Wed Nov 24, 2010 11:19 pm

Heh so i am on my toughest battle since iv started playing oblivion ..following the MQ battle of kvatch.. its the part when i raise the gates so we can "storm" the castle and honestly its impossible :).. i am playing on i dont know 60-70% difficulty, ranger type character(custom) with long sword and light armor almost maxed, archery 75 .. and i have quite nice set of weapons and aoe arrows but im using crusader armor and sword.. now in the courtyard there is 8 xivilai and they all have summoned creatures .. storm antrochs, deadroths etc.. and honestly there is no way for me and savlian to take them on .. after i exhaust all my aoe arrows i go in for melle .. well they come for me i get perma stunned and killed .. i have killed them and can killed them if i lower difficulty but id rather not do that ..

So im asking do you guys have any tips on how to fight an army of xivilai? : )

edit: forgot to say my lvl is 35

This should go in the Oblivion section of the forum.

Back on topic, Xivilai have a weakness to shock but absorb magicka. I suggest using a absorb magicka spell on them then shoot them with shock arrows

Doing anything BUT the MQ. It's quite easy to do, contrary to what you may think.

Because of how everything is levelled at this point it will be rather difficult, the biggest problem I see is that as a ranger type character you're strengths will be laying traps and attacking enemies from far away in large, open spaces, all of which is the exact opposite in this fight.

You are probably going to need to some pretty heavy spell-casting if you want to save all the soldiers, if you don't then you'll still need a bit of spell-casting. If you have a high-levelled version of the Fingers of the Mountains spell then that would be good to use against the Xivilai, a custom lightning spell with weakness to lightning or the high level Wizards Fury spell might also do the trick. You'll want as much help as you can get so roll-out your strongest summon. You'll also want some good healing spells, both for yourself and your allies, a couple of strong lightning poisons and magicka as well as health potions should be useful too.

Get the best enchanted bow you can find, absorb health, absorb magicka and a frost enchantment are all good bets (lightning is resisted by the atronachs and fire is resisted by most other daedra) If you have Umaril's sword then that has a good lightning enchantment you can use against daedra other than the atronachs.

One tactic you can use is to simply bull-rush the enemies, cast a frost spell on the xivilai then a paralyze spell and hack them with Umaril's sword, you definitely want to get rid of them first because of the clanfears they summon, after clearing them out attack daedroths and anything else other than the atronachs, save them for last.

Iv made it :)..thx for all the advice guys.
The batttle was brutal and only spell i have is "alchemy".. but that came quite handy.. potions for +strenght, agility, shield and hp were awesome. One of the best fights ingame.

Now i know that creatuers lvl with me, but my question is way guards dont do the same?
I mean imperial soldiers and savlian just get one shoot to death and thats it. There really was one use from them.
Oh yeah and sorry because of my crappy spelling/grammar i never learnd english..
