Well, I have seen it a while back with a friend. It was shocking.
shock #1
+7. An alien war movie which is +7, I yelled "+7!? shame on you" in the theater. :flame:
shock #2
First encounter scenes were amazingly well done. I didn't expect that level of directorial excellence. Effects and such was very nicely handled. Shaky cam wasn't too intrusive. I want to see more from the director.
shock #3
Soldiers questioning/doubting superiors. They even thought leaving civilians behind there for a second. What kind of patriotic American movie is this?!
I just saw this movie over the weekend and freakin loved it! Total guy flick with explosions, aliens, guns, and patriotism. This should be a freakin recruitment movie for the Marines!
This. Because of this, it is a very limited movie.
But it wasn't full patriotism from the start, it developed to there. Story-wise, this makes it odd which is a nice thing. I compared it to Hurt Locker instead of District 9. It handled concepts/messages in Hurt Locker in a different way, more human way which I personally liked a whole lot more.
Spoiler Michael Pe?a's overly patriotic character baffled me. It was so over the top, I suspected he might be some form of Alien spy in disguise or something.
