Battle of the magic schools!

Post » Sun May 29, 2011 3:00 am

Alright just for fun! Considering the information we have on Skyrim's magic system and your experience with past TES games: which magic school do you prefer?

alteration has always been my thing, although a few sprinkles of pure destructiony hell can be nice, especially now spells seem like they're going to look more powerful if they are...
myticism will be spread through the other and there wasnt too much to miss

Honestly? It's mysticism for having the intervention, detect, soul trap and telekinesis effects. Next is illusion and alteration has some things I find useful as well.

As a defensive fighter I voted for Alteration.

Illusion was always my favorite since I play sneaky characters, but I like destruction as well. (weakness to magicka+damage fatigue made for a funny fainting spell :whistling: )

Illusion, as I play stealth characters more often than not. Alchemy, if it was in this poll would be my choice, though. Destruction comes in third because damage is damage... and the other schools are all equally used by me at the bottom of the list.

Conjuration! Why fight when you can just summon undead and daedra to do it for you?

Illusion, I like getting enemies to kill each other. Prevents me from getting my hands dirty.

Ooh... I hate this. I love conjure and illusion equally.

I love summoning weapons and undead, but illusion has invisibility, paralyze, and mind effecting spells.

I vote illusion, but conjure is right there too.

Hopefully in Skyrim there is a spell where I can get an enemy to kill himself.

Restoration, what is the point of the others if you are too dead to cast them?

Restoration.......I have a bias though, I've never really played a character dedicated to magic. Skyrim's magic looks more appealing though, so I'll probably start using more magic.

Alteration, it's easily the most useful of the schools. (Yes, even more useful than illusion)

I think restoration should include the paralyze spell, never got why it was in illusion.

if i had to choose one it would be illusion cause its the most OP of all of them. a short duration charm spell can get anyone to fight for you and everyone knows about how easy it is to abuse invisibility and chameleon.

That would be the best, but might be a bit too overpowered. I would also like to see a fear spell.
If those two were in I could make my dream Master of Nightmares character.

yeah Illusion does seem really awesome again. The Fury spell makes enemies fight each other, shoot that off and go invisible while they duke it out :D

I think it has to do with how illusion magic is about controlling the functions of the brain. If your brain stops sending electrical signals to your muscles your muscles stop working, that is, you are paralyzed.
