Battlefield: Bad Company 2

The single player campaign is fun, but I can't stand the vehicle sections. It's like they decided for every area you had to use a vehicle they'd completely white/brown out your screen with impenetrable snow/dust/fog and put sharp corners with cliff edges for you to drop off. :ahhh:

It seems the 360 version of Vietnam has Operation Hastings unlocked now despite not having completed the 69 million support actions yet. Has the PS3 version got it now too?

Yes. If you are a fan of BC2 you will love the Vietnam expansion too.

I wouldn't say vehicles are any stronger. Tanks seem pretty much the same to me as they were in vanilla BC2, and Hueys are seriously weak and pathetic. The PBRs are pretty brutal though.

How can you think that? I can stay in the air for a whole round of rush if I have at least one engineer in back, and I land everytime I get to 50 health. It takes two whole LMG mags to take down a chopper, if you can't stop for repairs in that time you deserve to be shot down.
The hueys absolutely carve up everything but tanks.

And tanks get a massive boost from the lack of tracer darts and scopes on RPGs, plus they're the only easy way to take down helicoptors.

Alright, guess I misread then. If the M24 (the first sniper rifle if I recall right) wasn't the most lethal I wouldd switch to one of the others that has more rounds before reloading.

Define "lethal". If you're going by the damage from the in game damage bars, it's wrong. http://denkirson.xanga.com/722757523/bad-company-2/ are the true stats for the guns which show all bolt snipers have the same damage. I prefer to use the SV98 because it's got a 10 round clip, and shoots the fastest. The GOL is nice too, but it's pretty much even with the M24.

Ya, all the sniper rifles are the same. I use the SV98 too because of the bigger clip.

Ever played conquest? The tank gunners carve up Hueys (and I always use vehicle armour too) in a matter of seconds. You do not get time to land somewhere. The Huey is absolutely rubbish, which is a shame because it's a fun vehicle to fly.

It's nothing to do with flying skills. It's not just me that gets shot down within about 20 seconds every time, I see everyone getting shot down really easily. I can understand why they have made the Huey weaker than the Blackhawk, what with there being no guided missiles or tracers in Vietnam, but they have taken it way too far. If somebody is flying around in a Huey they should be difficult to shoot down, not insanely easy. I've shot down a ridiculous number of Hueys with ease. You have to be playing against a seriously incompetent team to stay in the air for any length of time.

A quick note: If you use a semi auto sniper rifle and then switch to the pistol you can take down a huey even quicker.

Not particularly.
The hitbox problems aren't fixed, possibly worse.
guns aren't particularly balanced and handle more like Black Ops than Bad Company 2
the maps are small, chokepoint infused, grenade fests (a couple exceptions, but not many)
The game was obviously rushed (buggy, like glitching PBR's under the map or Armor spec doing NOTHING because it was supposed to be removed)

Maybe if it gets a patch at some point in the future it'll be worth it, I would only do it if there's literally nothing else worth saving that money for.

The hitboxes are great in vietnam
Guns do more damage, and are overall much more balanced than in BC2.
Small maps are a real problem, but other than Vantage point and Cao San CQ they're pretty good.
The PBR bug was fixed with a serverside patch already, haven't seen any other bugs. The armour spec does work, but it still only adds 25% health, basically a difference of 1 or even 0 bullets.

Vietnam is a great expansion, much more fast paced than BC2, and it really shines on the larger maps like Phu Bai and Hastings, Hill 137 and Cao San are also pretty good. Vantage Point is good once you get past the first set of MCOMs, but it really needs to be opened up.

I started playing this a bit last night because my friend got it for Christmas. I forgot how much fun this game is. The AUG is my favorite gun overall, but I started using the G3 on engineer today and it was really good. I used the M16 a bit too.

My name on there is Giraffes Rule (I think) on it, if anyone wants to friend me.

Couldn't disagree more.

In my 200+ (maybe about 250 by now) hours playing BC2 I've never had a problem with hitboxes.

They don't handle anything like weapons in Black Ops. I came straight from playing it to playing BC2:Vietnam and noticed an immense difference in weapon handling.

the maps are small, chokepoint infused, grenade fests (a couple exceptions, but not many)

I can see your point here in some cases. Most of the maps are much better suited to conquest than rush I find. I'm a big fan of rush in vanilla BC2 but it's not that great in Vietnam, conquest is the way to go in it.

The game was obviously rushed (buggy, like glitching PBR's under the map or Armor spec doing NOTHING because it was supposed to be removed)

I've only seen the PBR glitch 3 times I think, and as Solid_moose pointed out it has been patched apparently. I've seen no other glitches.

Maybe if it gets a patch at some point in the future it'll be worth it, I would only do it if there's literally nothing else worth saving that money for.

I disagree. Go and buy BC2: Vietnam now.
