Battlefield: Bad Company 2

Perhaps one of you guys could offer me some help on a weird problem I'm having with the game. I just bought it yesterday while it was on sale on Steam, and I played the single player last night and it ran quite smooth on medium settings. But, whenever I try to play multiplayer the game is just unplayable, I get stuttering and freezing every few seconds. This seems to happen no matter what settings I put the game on. I've put the game on the lowest resolution and settings available and the game still does the same thing.

Last night before I went to bed I did try the multiplayer real quick and it was working great except for some weird artifacts would appear whenever people would shoot, this occurred in the single player as well. So I downloaded new video drivers for my card and the artifacts are completely gone, but now I'm getting the stuttering/freezing problem. I've been trying to get the game in a playable state all day today, including tweaking the .ini settings and messing with the advanced video settings.

My laptop's specs are:

Nvidia 8800M GTS 512MB
Intel Core 2 Duo T8300 2.4GHz
3 GIG RAM

All of my other games appear to be working fine, so I'm not sure what the problem could possibly be. If you guys could offer any help, I'd be eternally grateful .

EDIT: Looks like I somewhat figured out how to fix it, I set the process to low in the task manager and all of the stuttering is gone. Now I just need to tweak the settings a bit to make it completely smooth.

It could have been my team as well, we lost 8 straight matches, and never got past their 1st set of bases and they breezed through ours. Probably why I couldn't do anything without getting shot. That and I'm pretty sure 3/12 people on our team knew how to diffuse and these guys were over rank/level 15. I don't know what was going on. I did have a few nice matches though..I'll try again later I suppose.

Count the amount of Recon players on your team. The less you have, the higher your chances of winning. Also, before going in a large building, fire a rocket/pro pipe nade at the corner of the building or where the walls meet up. You should take out anyone camping on the other side.

If you get frustrated, just sit back a match or two and have some fun. Sending someone to the moon on an ATV is quite theraqeutic.

Or even better take the extra explosives perk and C4, throw a C4 on each of the four corners and one on each of the long sides, at the height where the two floors meet.
Bye bye house :wavey:

The PBR is so much fun to use in Vietnam, the dual machine gun is a beast. Plus it makes me feel like drinking cheap beer.

Well that's just it..the other team was populated with mostly people who probably have been playing BC 2 for the past 5 months.. I had about a 6 month break on it and it seemed like I'd aim for them but couldn't do much before I went down because their aiming was top notch spectacular. Maybe once I get back into the groove of playing things won't be as bad.

I had the same issue when I started playing yesterday. I played the crap out of BC2 this year, but for the last month or so I've been playing Black Ops, so when I started on Vietnam my aiming was awful for a while. After a game or two I got the hang of it again though and now I'm back in the groove.

Anyone know how the community challenge is progressing? I'm looking forward to trying Operation Hastings, looks like a cool map.

Okay, I'm in the mood for playing BC2 (Non-Vietnam) today. If you feel like playing just send me a forum message. My only condition is that we actually try to work as a squad. :homestar:

I'm 360 by the way.

http://www.battlefieldbadcompany2.com/vietnam/battleforhastings is a counter for the community challenge on the 360, PS3 and PC for anyone that wants to keep up with it.

[EDIT]: I'd really love it if I actually got teammates with opposable thumbs every now and again. I'm constantly paired up with people that clearly have never encountered a controller before.

One thing I'm not liking atm is that the Huey may as well be a paper aeroplane. It takes way too much damage.

I think it's a remake of it, yeah.

Hehe, there are two threads on the EA forum atm, one calling for the Huey to be buffed, the other for it to be nerfed.

I thought it was pretty balanced, with the vehicle armour upgrade I managed to stay in the air for about an hour on Phu Bai conquest. The most important thing is to have at least one of your gunners as engi, and everytime you get to around 30 health land and repair it.

The weapons that do the most damage to the heli are the semi auto snipers, they do about 10 damage per shot, everything else does <1 dps.

Snipercamp?

Nope, I was using that medic gun the entire time. I always rushed in and got a few plants too. If you look on the minimap I am the closest one to the objectives.

I can't believe some people want it nerfed. It's already pretty much useless. Medics with LMGs just tear it to shreds in a matter of seconds.

I got accussed of hacking on the 360 the other day. I had about 5000 points on conquest. I was using the M10. They were really bad and I have pretty good eyesight so I could see them at a good range.

I think everything is perfect the way it is nothing needs to get nerfed or buffed.

I always enjoyed a good snipe but the lack of 1 hit kills to the chest with the Magnum Ammo and M95 is annoying. Sometimes I just want to be that [censored], 400 yards away, killing you with 1 hit while you can't do anything about it.

The shotgunning Assault was always my main though. Unlimited C4 is epic.

I get irritated because sometime, ok alot of times, it seems I get shot through a ton of walls plus around a corner, the shots come out of nowhere. I also get annoyed when I see people near me sniping and they are taking out enemies I can't even remotely see and the ones I do see take multiple shots to kill. Is the damage random? I also can't seem to get the hang of leading off my target and accounting for the wind and bullet drop off, which I am assuming occurs in this game though I could be wrong.

http://denkirson.xanga.com/722757523/bad-company-2/ You need to hit a person twice with a sniper to kill 'em unless you're VERY close or get a headshot. And there is bullet drop and travel time but no wind.

There is a learning a curve. There is the other end of that curve though were you play it too long and you can long range people with pistols. :blush2:

This is really pissing me off...my screen randomly flashes a blank black screen and sometimes even stays like that for a couple seconds. Has gotten me killed countless times and it only happens with BC2.

I decided to play some conquest in Vietnam today and surprisingly found it far more enjoyable than rush. In regular BC2 I always play rush, but the maps in Vietnam seem to be much better suited to conquest. Also, the shotgun is beastly, I decided to use it just to work towards getting the silver/gold stars and found it to be extremely effective. I'll probably use it quite a bit from now on.
