Battlefield: Bad Company 2

Post » Tue Feb 22, 2011 12:46 am

The last Bad Company 2 thread was an age ago, if I am mistaken spare yourself the reading, provide me a link, and either A.) Lock the thread (Mods only) or B.) Go to some other thread.

As of now, the FPS world is revolving around Call of Duty: Black Ops. My friends list on Xbox live consists of nearly all friends playing Black Ops. Now Black Ops is a good game in it's own right, but I have found myself reverting back to BF: BC2. With Map Pack 7 out, adding 4 new maps: Harvest Day, Oasis, Heavy Metal, and Cold War. Harvest Day and Oasis are both maps from the original Bad Company. Both are excellent and extremely fun to play. Heavy Metal and Cold War are both new, being community chosen maps from the campaign. Heavy Metal offers large, open, gameplay. Lots of aircraft, tanks, and sniping is abundant as well. Cold War is a dense snowy map, and a gust of snow is always present making it difficult to see at times, which mixes up the game a little giving you limited range. If you have the VIP card, or play on PC, I would recommend you try this map pack out if you haven't already, I have been having a blast with it.

But now on to the big news: the Vietnam DLC. It is said to be "A bridge between Battlefield: 1943 and Bad Company 2". It feels different from BC2 in many aspects, even map design. Not sure what the cost will be, but whatever it may be I will be sure to have it. I was just seeing if anyone still played this game, I am finding the slightly slower paced gameplay a relief from Black Ops.

Steam has it priced at $14.99. I'm gonna wait until steam has a good price for buying both as I don't have BC2.

Yep, the CPU might slow you down, but because you're on DX9 it should balance out.

The new maps are AWESOME!
I've been playing Heavy Metal and Harvest Day pretty much non stop since they were released.

I was talking with my cousin about it on Thanksgiving. I really want to start playing it again. Do I have to pay $10 for the map packs since I'm a VIP or are they still free?

They're still free so long as you are a VIP.

I have an E6600 and I don't have much trouble playing BC2 on XP.

Meh, 15 bucks for some maps and guns isn't worth it. I could get entire games for $15.

I've been playing Bad Company 2 for the last few days, after a break for Black Ops and other games. I'm waiting for my friend to get it for x-mas, so we can have our old Bad Company 1 sniper/scout team, going behind enemy lines and causing mayhem. :chaos:
Harvest Day was the best map we played together. As defenders, we would just C4 the bridges, then wait for a vehicle to drive over. We would make our way all the way to the attackers original bridge, and that would take away their entire left half for the first two gold crates. We'd C4 the artillery, the vehicles, everything. Then, when the attackers moved up, we would always be behind the enemy, one of us sniping while the other replenished their ammo. If we would have had a medic, we would have been perfect.

The new maps are pretty beast. I always own in the HUGE one, and I svck at the small snow town. I swear the Gustav is the weapon of choice in that map, nowhere to hide!

@Gamgee, I can play with a c2d@1.8@2048x1152 on high visuals low AA/AF though. You should be fine, idk how your vid card will hold up though.

Hmm, seems like I need to get the new map pack and play bfbc2 since I'm bored of black ops.

After watching the trailers, I can't wait for Vietnam.
I started playing again today. Me and a friend spent most of the match using AT mines to make jetski and ATV rockets.

So is it just a new map ? Also I dont see how you find it hard to see in snow, spotting makes it easy, just press the spot button (its back for 360) I hope they remove that though, this game would be better without the spot button, it maes it toeasy for snipers.

The Vietnam expansion? It adds 4 new maps (with a 5th unlock after the community collectively does 69 million support actions) along with a bunch of new weapons and vehicles which are appropriate to the time period.

[EDIT]: It also adds a 2hr soundtrack of classic songs from the Vietnam era and new voiceovers as well.

Just to clarify, there's no new campaign, correct? Wish there was.

Certainly will be getting this, though. I love the idea of not having scopes on all the other weapons.

Correct. It's a purely multiplayer expansion.

Here are a couple of trailers for the Vietnam expansion for anyone that hasn't seen them:

Yeah ,I've been waiting for the Vietnam expansion for sometime now. I haven't played BC2 in ages though. I've been thinking about it due to the new maps. I might hop tomorrow sometime. I've been hung up on Red Dead Redemption lately.

Yeah, I've been trying to play, but it's no fun as my entire friends list is filled with people playing Black Ops. And not many strangers like to talk.
