Battlefield Play4Free

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 1:09 am

I know the game just started so there's a chance that some of you haven't heard of the game yet. Like the title says, it's a Battlefield game, and yes, it's free to play. I just started about an hour ago and the game has been a ton of fun. Like many games released today, it allows you to rank up, gain experience, and upgrade your character in multiple ways. The game isn't at all taxing, it can even play well on my Dimension E520 with integrated graphics, as long as the graphics are lowered. So yeah, who is playing and what do you think?

Hadn't even heard about it, though I did have fun with the original Battlefield the little bit I played. Is this a free version of that?

I got invited to the beta a couple months back, didn't really like it. it was cool and all for an online browser-based game, or whatever it is, but if I'm going to be playing an FPS it'll be on my 56 inch screen in HD, sittin on a comfy couch and with a controller in my hand(my PC is a piece of [censored], and that's an understatement).

But, overall, it was decent for a "free" game(it is free to play, but to progress further after a certain point in the leveling up system(or something) you have to pay), just not my kind of thing.

Do they still have the Battlefield: Heroes game up then? I remember playing that loooooong ago, in a galaxy far, far away. Didn't like that one.

"Free" games always end up charging you for the good items. Especially in a competitive game like this, in the end it's always the people who pay getting the advantage over people who don't.

Thought about it, had been invited into the beta several months ago. Friend just showed me World of Tanks though, downloading it right now. Looks pretty damn sweet.

I've been in the closed beta, but I barely get on. IMO, it's even worse than BF:Heroes (which is pretty bad). I've played betas for both games and they have the same exact problem. The class system is more [censored] than ever and some classes become nigh worthless in certain encounters, but of course you can't change them mid game. The game even has the same stupid graphical problems Heroes had back in beta, and I don't feel like putting up with it again. These games are made for casual kids with too much money that don't mind shelling out 5-10 dollars for a stupid weapon (that'll become outdated a couple months later, ad nauseum).

From what I've seen, every gun available in the game is free, with the option to use real world money to keep them for good. Other than that, you get weapons with points from playing.

For now in the beta maybe. If you look at Heroes most of the weapons require real currency to get and they've decreased the amount of time you can "rent" weapons with the non-real-money-funds from 7 days to 3, and increased the price a ton. Essentially making it so you have to use the default, bad weapons, unless you want to shell out a ridiculous amount of money to buy or rent these other weapons. I expect the same to happen with BFP4F once its out of beta.

If that's true, then I will simply enjoy the time I have with the game, and when things go south, quit. The game is fun, but not worth paying simply to fire a gun.

Not that much of an online-gaming fan actually... and by the looks of the trailer, it pretty much looks like a downgraded Battlefield 2...

Pretty much what it is. A like it though. My computer is very weak, therefore finding decent games to play is tough.

Played a couple of games on it, suffered severe lag and then went back to playing Battlefield Heroes and Battlefield 2.

Played a couple of games although laggy(I was actually expecting that), it was extremely fun, it makes me want to go back out and go and buy Battlefield 2... Also I cannot wait for Battlefield 3 especially if the multi-player is just like that.
