Battlefield 3 revealed

Post » Mon Dec 06, 2010 8:07 am

I liked Bad Company 2 and Battlefield 2 a lot. I don't think they'll be making BF3 too much like Call of Duty. Medal of Honor is supposed to be their Call of Duty clone.

Technically Bad Company was supposed to be their answer to Call of Duty, Medal of Honor was just an abomination.
I'm just hoping the maps are bigger.

The maps were way too small in bad company.

Have you tried Harvest Day or Heavy Metal from the new map pack? Both of those maps are pretty big (especially Heavy Metal) compared to the normal maps. My only complaint is how linear everything seems to be. There seems to be only so many ways to get from one place to another, it's not nearly as flank-able as I remember BF2 being.

As for fan favorite features, how does the return of jets, prone, and 64-player multiplayer (on PC) sound?

Ditto. But even then I really do enjoy the Battlefield series. This'll be on my radar for sure.

My inner cynic tells me this will be more like Bad Company 2 than Battlefield 2. We shall see...

Actually, Medal Of Honor came WAY before COD. If anything, CoD completely ripped Medal Of Honor off. I remember playing Frontline about a year before CoD even came out.

I really hope they're not trying to compete with CoDs mindless deathmatch and instead make a tactical FPS with huge maps like BF2. I never played the Bad Company games.

Between the horrible hit detection in BF2, the win/lose bug in BC2 which still happens to me from time to time and the servers regularly going down and losing all my stats for a day or so, there's no way I'm buying another Battlefield game.

I'm getting sick of generic, Grey, cover based, gritty, military FPS games anyway.

Didn't the old makers of medal of honor quit the company and made COD games?

yeah. some old members created infinity ward and i always thought of call of duty as a more mature version of medal of honor. Then MW2 and BO cheese fest came out and now its just way too cartoonish while trying to be serious.

If BF3 is like medal of honor, ill love it. ive never played BF2 or any of the old ones except BF2:MC.

Sweet, I wanted to go prone in BFBC2, it lets you hide better, and get better cover, then I found out about the mark system...

I hope that thing vanishes, it takes the fun out of sniping whenere you just spam a button and aim under the red mark, besides I have a damn ghille suit, if I can blend in with the bushes and be pretty much invvisible to a normal scope I deserve to stay hidden, the marker is overpowered.

If you play on hardcoe no marker ;) I play nothing but gold hardcoe mode rush maps. No markers, no full health regen, team fire is on. Good stuff. Prone + big maps sounds like a snipers dream playground. 64 players should be really fun too, I only play the 32 person maps in BC2, more the better I say!

Also, this game will put my PC to good use, good to have some PC attention! Thanks DICE!!!

I'm still upset that they basically left the 2142 series twisting in the wind, so to speak. :(

Really ? I thought HC was no minimap and bullets kill quicker.
Sweet I need to play that mode.

I hope they change controls for helicoters though, god its hard to fly, I will get a few feet of the ground then randomly crash in one direction. Killing anyone on board.
lack ops combat training. I never use the helicopter anymore, I cant fly it, and to learn I would have to try, and would really piss of my team by constant crashing.
They need a mode like b

I agree about the heli, I crash asap too but I dont want to practice flying cause people get mad at me killing them :x

Watch a tutorial or two on Youtube. After watching one, I found flying a helicopter to be incredibly easy.

I was talking about the Medal of Honor reboot released last year. It's a blatant attempt to copy everything Call of Duty does these days.

GameInformer cover looks great. So this will be using a new Frostbite engine, is that correct?

Well, Battlefield did modern combat before Call of Duty. I think Counter-Strike may have done it before Battlefield. It's not like Call of Duty is the original one either. It just happens to be the most popular.
