Battlefield 3 revealed

I'm still upset that they basically left the 2142 series twisting in the wind, so to speak. :(

Oh yeah, they were making another patch for it. Shame it never came out. Maybe one day, though.

Watch a tutorial or two on Youtube. After watching one, I found flying a helicopter to be incredibly easy.

... I did "oh so the sticks control height, pitch and yaw, that makes sense now I guess" *crashes* :(
IIRC taking off when gaining height I move the pitch/yaw and crashforeward/back cant remember, but damn I would rather controls like GTA or something. I watch tutorials tried and failed, then gave up because people get pissed when you kill them.
Also why have a diffferent control to the UAV ? It was stupid.

Oh god I just realised jets are going to be much faster and if I cant fly a slow heli, damn, I am going to die alot.
Also I hope the tracer moves faster if we are against jets because damn hitting helicopters was pretty damn hard unless they hover.

Well, Battlefield did modern combat before Call of Duty. I think Counter-Strike may have done it before Battlefield. It's not like Call of Duty is the original one either. It just happens to be the most popular.

I don't think you guys understand what I'm saying. Most of the things Call of Duty introduced (and Call of Duty has introduced many new elements to FPS games since the series began) were basically copied in the new Medal of Honor. I don't care which game series started before the other, or if they had the same setting before. It's the gameplay elements I'm referring to, and the 2010 Medal of Honor was made to compete directly with Call of Duty. Battlefield is a different style, and Bad Company is also different enough.

Hasn't it been pretty well known they have been working on BF3 for a while now? The subtext worries me, I thought Bad company was their response to Call of Duty. Hopefully Battlefield 3 is an actual battlefield game, unlike Bad company. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed Bad Company 2, but the game play felt very much like Call of Duty. Hopefully they have knifing as a separate weapon instead of just a button.

First of all salute, I thought I was the only one thinking that :D

Now, yes it has been known for quite a few years already but no real solid announcements or details only stuff thrown here and there, not to mention the fact it was rumored to be a PC exclusive those days.
And lets face it, the fact that its going to be a multiplatform release already means the PC version will suffer. Which is bad, because Battlefield was my favorite FPS franchise, And I don't own a console.

In the 2020's, we will all be giggling at the 10's and late 00's obsessive fascination with the blue/orange color scheme.

Also, I'm getting really burnt out by these types of modern military FPS games.

Im not cause I played MW2 (didnt buy) tried the beta of MoH (didnt buy) and played the campaign of black ops (didnt buy). BC2 is the only game that stuck with me, and having just one modern warfare game isnt enough to burn me out :)

Do you try to move forward as soon as you get the blades spinning fast enough? I normally allow the heli to get some height before taking off? Do you have it on xbox? If so, you and I should play sometime.

I kind of wish someone would come out with a good World War 2 shooter again...

I hate the default control scheme for heli's. I had to invert the controls. Sometimes it would reset my settings causing me to kill lots of friendlies.

Also hurrah for jets.

Yes, I belive I added, you. No idea how much longer I will have XBL though, I thought it expired in january but still got it :P

But II get off the ground about 6 feet, never high, then just crash foreward. I may start stealing the helicopter next time, if they get pissed I could just leave and find another match to practice with unsuspecting victims :P

Its a sahem the heli is te only thing I havent been able to use at all, all classes fine, tank fine, quad fine. UAV fine, but helis just no.

So excited about this. I played Battlefield 2 for years, and I still play it every so often.

Frostbite 2 engine sounds amazing.

I hope the environment effects get toned tone this time though. The snow and sand effects in Bad Company 2 were so annoying.

I thought it was to expensive for maps, and with a new game, dont see a point.

It is well worth the amount I paid for it. I find it almost as good the regular game is.

Yeah half the time I thought there was a sandstorm. Was hard to spot people sometimes.

I agree there was way too much dust and snow in all the levels. Makes long range sniping very useless.

Mostly looks good. A little disappointed at the possible lack of mod tools, but otherwise not much to complain about.

I hope BF3 isn't as blurry as 2, only thing that got on me when playing the game was my eyesight felt blurred.

And though the maps are huge, I hope for a greater number of areas.

And of course more weapon types.

Also love the part where destruction of environment is believeable. No more knife ripping through fences. :)
