Battlemage How? (Perkus Maximus)

Post » Sun Sep 06, 2015 4:29 pm

I know a couple of you guys use Perkus Maximus so maybe I can get some useful advice on the build for my next DiD toon:

A female Dunmer named Aloie Gunnarsdotter (reusing the "orphan of travelers killed and adopted by farmer family in Rorikstead story from my last toon Siegmar Gunnarsson).

I'd like to play a Battlemage. I think I've started this kind of toon in Oblivion and Skyrim a couple times but never seemed to get to far. I did play a "Paladin" in Oblivion for quite a while but he used primarily Restoration and Alteration.

I understand Dunmer make good Battlemage/Spellsword types and moreover, that the redesigned perk tree in PerMa is prety ideal for this type of toon, so I'm curious what sorts of combos are a good idea.

At this point, I cannot even recall what effect armor wearing has on magic use or spell casting in Skyrim and my efforts to figure out that very basic question have so far accomplished nothing for an hour or so of searching wikis and the web.

Does armor hamper magicka regeneration?

Armor effects magicka regen in that the mana regen enchantments slapped on them are crappier than robes. You could always enchant your own set though.

What I did on my Nord Battlemage is enchant

armor with 50 health/25 health regen

helmet with 50 magic/ 50 magic regen

boots with 50 stamina/ 25 stamina regen

I throw up a frost cloak and ebony flesh spells and conjure a battle axe and go to work.

My tip for all types of mages: join the Vampires and obtain Ring of the Erudite. In my opinion it is the single most powerful item in the entire game (including custom enchantments). Admittedly it is annoying having to roleplay being evil or whatever in order to get it, but if you can think of a way it's definitely worth it. The magicka regen it gives you is crazy.
