BATTLESPIRE difficulty

Post » Wed Aug 18, 2010 7:34 pm

Bult a char . . . and promptly got killed in the first room.

Bult a 2nd char who survived Level 1 . . . and got killed in the first room of Lvl 2.

Built a 3rd char who made it 2 lvls . . . and now can't get past the first room of lvl 3.

What am I missing? Is the game *supposed* to be unwinnable?

Confused...

Run around your enemies until they use all magic. Watch them hit each other with their spells. Wait for them to stop fighting each other. Kill the remaining enemies.

It's actualy very easy.

BS is tough as nails. As I've yet to beat level 2, I can't really give any advice.

I'll give you some advice that Sinder_Velvin gave to me years ago - abuse the advantages/disadvantages system. Give yourself regenerating hp/mp and take some minor disadvantages like can't use random weapons/armour types. With that, once you get the hang of basic combat the game gets pretty decent. Also remember that weapons/armour degenerate over time/combat and so you need to replace them.

I'm being killed by a single ghost in the very first room of lvl3.

Thanks anyway.

Did all that for char #3 and used only my long blade. The ghost there kills me in 2-3 blows, "shield" spell is useless, I whack on him with a claymore and whack, whack, whack, whack - nothin'.

Game is probably fubared and mobs ended up with quadruple hps or something...

svcks 'cause I got it running pretty great in DosBox and it holds up not too badly.

Are you referring to the ghosts on level 3?

Yeah Battlespire was brutally hard. If I recall correctly though, you can't actually kill the ghosts, you just have to run from them. Once you get more into the daedric realms you can exploit certain daedra not liking each other so they won't attack you, or will even attack each other instead.

And I don't know if you saw the thread, but we're trying to put together some online Battlespire action if you're down to try that out.

Alright.

Figured it out: the unkillable ghosts are the "wraiths" of the scroll I found nearby. No point fighting them at all.

I met one who told me of a ritual and was supposed to give me a gem of some kind. There is a gem on the floor where I met him (he disappeared) but clicking on it just opens my inventory - I can't acutally pick up the gem. I also found another scroll with words of power but they never show up in dialogue options for my character to use (they will supposedly banish the wraiths.)

I'm making progress but this level is frustratingly slow.

One more thing: drops in this game are inane - mobs hardly ever drop anything useful and the stuff in chests is "steel" and "iron"; useless againt Morphoid Daedra and some of those advanced skeletons I sometimes bump into (they look the same but take 3x the punishment)

This whole game is pretty dammed arbitrary...

Stuck at Level4 (seducers kill me in a single blow) - can I send you a savegame?

Thanx in advance.
