Battlespire's Dreamsleeve

During part of the Battlespire storyline you have to release Jaciel Morgen from her entrapment in a dreamsleeve by speaking the Nocturnal's name. Is this enchantment related to the dreamsleeve stuff that is usually talked about on this forum?

Yes, though it's no longer much a topic of discussion, souls can be seen as a connection between a body and something else. The Dreamsleeve is this other thing.

Ok. But how? Is it an actual place? And shouldn't she be destroyed or something?

From the conversation I got the impression she 'killed' did something to herself to sulk in that timeless place were as Vivec explained it gods go when they're dead and stay when not willing to wake up again. That'd can be the how.

edit:

That didn't make sense. Jaciel Morgan gets to sulk in the Dreamsleeve while Deyanira Katrece goes into the waters of Oblivion. So Jaciel didn't kill herself and neither do those that use the dreamsleeve for communication. That leaves trance or meditation for the how.

The where is a bit more difficult. Have you ever heard about http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barbelith? In the simplest way you can see the world as being thought up by the somewhat schizophrenic godhead. So the world is not real. The Dreamsleeve, the Waters of Oblivion, Sovngarde and BARBELiTH are means to connect with the godhead that is everything and as a cantrip allowing people to converse. At the same time they're a way to describe experiencing the godhead.

Since this all exists outside of the Aurbis, there is no real where involved. If you will, the where is about the same place where you are when you're afk - at the coffee machine.

Since its called a dreamsleeve, you should first picture a dreamer. Now, think about the mind of the dreamer dividing itself up into the different actors within the dream, afterall no good dream only has one character. Now think about the characters in that world and the implications of their relation to the dreamer's mind. In truth, they all share the same mind, but they don't know it. There are two implications of this. The first implication is that since everybody shares the same mind if somebody knows how they can simply send thoughts from one person to the next regardless of distance, because in truth they're really talking with theirselves. The second implication is that when somebody dies they simply drift back into the mind of the dreamer to be recycled (unless something is keeping them attached to the world).

Now, since we're talking about the mind it doesn't have any corporeal form or literal location. If you'll notice when Jaciel was trapped in the enchantment of the dreamsleeve, she hadn't actually gone anywhere - invoking the power of the Nocturnals was more like giving somebody that's hypnotized the right cue to wake up than it was calling her back from some far off place. As the context says she was "awaking" from where she had 'faded into the smallest part of her soul'. Her soul was still anchored to her body and her soul is daedric to boot, so no she shouldn't have been destroyed.

I don't see why the two should be unrelated.

They're not. I was saying:

Body <---Soul----> ?????? where ???? is the The Dreamsleeve | the Waters of Oblivion | Sovngarde | BARBELiTH | The Godhead.

Ah, we're good now. I'd read it as the dreamsleeve being an "other thing" from anchor theory.

I guess that makes sense. So its like a world placenta, except its also the worlds mind.

Are both the daedra and mortals connected to it though?

I think both are. The godhead isn't just confined to Nirn. :ninja:
