Battlespire Walking problem

Post » Fri Nov 19, 2010 6:24 pm

so, i just reformatted my dual-boot computer and finished installing arena, daggerfall, battlespire, and redguard. after a few hours of patches, tweaks, dosbox edits and what-not, i got them all working fine... except Battlespire... it starts up and runs fine, but walking around is all screwy. my character can walk normal speed in 1 direction, but very slowly or not at all in others, also, when i walk in a direction, its usually not the direction of the button i pressed. for instance, i press up and i move left, so i turn left and when i press up, my character now walks forward.

I've scoured the forums and searched online but have been unable to find anything even remotely similar to my problem, so i now turn to you.

What are your systems speccs. I have an odd feeling that your computer just isn't powerful enough to have DOSBox run it.

Ram: 512mb
Graphics: NVDIA GeForce4 MX 440 with AGP8X (64mb video memory)

Oh, easily fixed. Your processor is too fast. Grab MoSlow or TurboSlow, crank 'er up and play. It'll all go away then :)

You sir, are a genius! MoSlow didnt work because battlespire is run with either a .bat file or .pif file and MoSlow only runs .exe or .com but Turbo works great. its a bit stuttery but atleast i can play! many thanks to you!

I always used Turbo, because it always works. Some fiddling with the % will most likely fix any issues you have with stuttering. I've never had to use it with Battlespire, because my 98 was 350MHZ and quite fine and dandy for the game. :)
