Baylna's Practice Spell

Post » Mon Apr 04, 2016 5:46 am

I was just wondering how many people might use Baylna's Practice Spell as a nighteye substitute? I don't think it's really quite as good as the Khajiit nighteye, but it does improve vision a lot, and it can last a lot longer.

I've not heard it mentioned much though...

You mean when she casts it on you, or is there a way to learn the spell and use it later? Sorry, I’m not getting what you mean.

I do find it’s handy to go underground while the spell is active. Otherwise it’s blinding to walk around on the snow if the sun is out.

Once she's cast it on you, you have the spell listed in (I think) illusion. If you select that spell and cast it on anything living, you will see everything with that greenish tint, and much brighter just as you do underground right after she casts it on you. If I cast it on say a dragon that I'm fighting, I get several hours game time of that "night vision" (have a look at my posts in "shoe your screenshots" thread to see how it works when cast on a dragon). To get rid of it I summon something small and short lived... like a rat or skeever, cast Baylna's Spell on the summoned little critter, and when the critter goes away so does Baylna's spell. That way I'm not stuck with it in daylight.

That's interesting. I've never seen the spell listed in the spells of my mages, though I could have overlooked it. Sounds interesting and fun to look into :)

Hmmm... I don't think it's caused by a mod, but I guess you never know. I guess if anything it would have to be Immersive Colleg of Winterhold.

You're not supposed to have the spell available to you for casting, it's only use is in the scripted sequence as part of her side quest. If you do have it in your spell listing then it must have been added by a mod (or a glitch I suppose).

Immersive College of Winterhold does add it as a spell, yes.

The only legit one I've come across is Vision of the Tenth Eye, but it's duration is quite short and takes too long to cast.
