Bayonets. More likely than you think?

Post » Mon Jan 10, 2011 1:26 am

Bayonets seem to be in brink from what I've seen.

http://brinkthegame.com/features/customization/

Unless this page is wrong there appear to be some Bayonets/ Knives attached to the guns.
Can we call this a confirmed?

Melee is down to:
-Gun slamming
-Knives with Pistols
-Bayonets
-Sliding Melee

Whoa, nice find, never noticed the knives attached to the guns.

But yeah, you're right, there might be bayonets to increase melee damage, but then they would probably have a big downside or something :I

The foregrip was shown to increase stability and increase equip delay. Maybe the bayonet increases melee damage and reduces accuracy? Or increases equip time? I found a bayonet too when I clicked resistance then on the top left guy.

Yeah, that sounds like downsides a bayonet would have.

well I wanted an opinion on this because the sites background is a guy holding a Molotov which has been confirmed to be removed from game and the trailer shows both the Molotov and dual pistols

so naturally :P

I wonder what the downsides will be or the effect of the bayonet as a gun to the face simply knocks you down.
Probably does damage at the cost of stability as a Bayonet could unbalance the gun

RUMORS!

Molotovs didn't work properly so they cut them out of the game I think.
Don't know the source anymore

(to quote Miguel from jagged alliance 2) I do not
it's a ohk melee already, the tactical knife is only good for those who have slow reflexes and/or can't aim their melee.
how often haven't i been knifed by the guy i actually had just knifed, just because his tactical knife works faster or, for some reason, can null a melee kill if you reacted fast enough after his melee

Or for Bayonets would be an increased mele range like CoD world at war, with either an accuracy reduction or equip time increase would sound right (like what Auzner said)

in the E3 id i notice alot of attachments didnt have any downsides to the stats, for example i think a drum magazine should take longer to reload, but in the vid i dont recall seeing the stat decrease. I hope stuff like that is balanced, i dont really know how to balance a bayonet, but im confident in SD

The drawback could be that despite doing more damage it doesn't knock the enemy down, so he's just hurt but still able to quickly turn around and retaliate.

in regards to Molotovs..... they were cut because they couldn't perfect the fire animation (in an interview i forgot which one) and they want this game to be perfect, they also said in the time they estimated it would take to finish the fire, they could add something much more enjoyable to the game.

While its clearly possible that the bayonet is a melee weapon, after reading this thread I went and looked, and I cant find any security with bayonets. Considering that SD has said that both sides will be identical, I think that the bayonet may be purely cosmetic.

char generator came out a while ago, and it takes up a known customization spot, the most likely answer is that they didn't have a security bayonet finished when the character pics came out.

Bayonets would be great, especially if there's no real restriction as to what it can and can't be added to. I want to take the GSG route and put a bayonet on a shotgun.

Do you have a source for that statement or is this just wishful hearsay?
