BBC's "The War Game"

Hi Folks,

I've linked to BBC's "Threads" in the past, (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-2023790698427111488 for anyone who hasn't watched it yet), but given its closer proximity to fallout's 50's theme (its 1965 rather than 1984), I thought "The War Game" may be worth a watch http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=2864871032688882557#.

I think it helps bring home some of the outlandish ideas people have about nuclear war - that a) You'd have plenty of time after launch to do something and B) it would just come out like a bolt from the blue - neither is true. Once you start seeing the political situation going to heck, you've got a few days, but if you wait for launch, you'll have (in the UK at least) a whole 3 minutes.

Its based I guess now on the "Alternative history" of the US using tactical nuclear weapons against chinese reinforcements in South Vietnam being followed by the East Germans occupying the other half of Berlin, and just getting worse from there.

As its 60's TV, it is of course in black and white... Do not adjust your set.
