Beast feet- yay or nay?

Post » Sun Sep 20, 2009 12:50 pm

im talking about the goat legs beasts had in MW, who couldnt wear shoes or helmets.

its adds variety, so yes for me.

Plus it makes me feel more like a beast.

Don't think of the feet think of the shape of the legs and the style of walking.

Well, I'll not say no, but anything can be said to add to variety. Wings, pointy tails, etc... I would not cry if it were not considereed in game though.

What I would like to see is this:

when you kill a beast or other foe, it will drop down on the ground and soak the white snow with blood (of course the should be an option to turn that feature on/off because of children)

what do you think guys?

I like my Khajiit to be closer to the mer appearance but the Argonians should be more unique like in MW.

Don't think of the feet think of the shape of the legs and the style of walking.

I know I know, was just pulling the goat... err leg.

But remember that in Morrowind beast races could not wear footwear of any kind.

If they do add them, and ensure footwear compatibility, the footwear will probably need fancy meshes to work right, which could be a problem for modding.

Or maybe not. Maybe the footwear models get divided in two parts, 'feet' and 'ankles'. Beast races would always overwrite the 'feet' part with their feet models, but the 'ankles' remain in place. Like how in fallout the armors got the forearm severed to make place for the pipboy when worn by the PC?

But I still think you would need to forget about argonians with fancy dancing shoes... :(

I've never played as beast race in TES (Yes, I'm boring).
I imagine it was pretty frustrating not being able to use boots of blinding speed etc.

Compromise where you'd have different model for feet for beast races would be the answer.

I think they'll go for the easy way of just making them more humanoid like in Oblivion no matter what we say.
It's easier for animators (they can use same rigs for every race) and 3D artists (no need to make different models for feet and helmets to accommodate races that walk on their toes). Also for player if it's matter of having beast legs and not having boots.

I think this has nothing to do with the thread topic.

Anyway, I would like to see a medium. The beast races walk in Morrowind just looked silly as they waddled back and forth, but Oblivion's beasts were a bit too human in the way they moved.
Just please don't take away my shoes again. I'm ok with having to get special boots/helms, just please don't take them away completely.

I don't see why it was cut. I mean, if you look at the mods released, it's actually really simple to implement Beast leggings. http://adul.net/index.php?p=dl_mwmods_aduls_leggings.

Personally, I actually liked the fact that I couldn't wear certain things as a beast. It really gave me a nice handicap. Sacrificing my characters durability for his awesomeness. Seems a good trade-off, to me.

That was exactly what I was thinking of, with automatic toggle between normal boot/legging model for beasts. Thank you!

Yay! Having the same body mesh for all races was quite boring in OB.

Well, there's really nothing wrong with the Khajiit, the way they appeared in oblivion. There are many different types, some even appearing almost entirely human, just a bit more fur on their cheeks.

But Argonians definitely need to be more lizard like this time around.

I liked the fact that my argonian character in Morrowind actually felt like more of a beast than a man. Not being able to wear the shoes the dunmers on Morrowind would produce made perfect sense to me.

The Oblivion argonians felt more like a re-skinned human in that regard.

They should bring back beast legs, but I don't want them to look like they did in morrowind,. They should make them look similar to female draenei's legs in Wow.

I'd say yes, the variety sets them apart. Oblivion they were just humans with paint on their bodies, a fake tail and a mask.

I'd like to have the beast legs back, as long as it doesn't look so awkard as Morrowind's beast races were. You don't have to make them bow-legged, hunched over and waddling around like they have a giant stick up their butt to make them feel like non-humans.

The problem with this is that everybody does not want to be at the disadvantage of not being able to wear boots or full helmets. I'm all for the beast races being more "beast-like" and having the boot/helm restrictions, but i think the Khajiit and Argonian racial benefits should be improved in order to balance out this issue.
