[UNOFFICIAL] beast race thread

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 7:38 am

yeah yeah, i know everyone here is for dunmer and argoinians [ i do not prefer them but i have runs-around-naked ] , but until we see how shiny and scaley the lizard folk are how about kahjiits?
the one thing i have noticed from the one pic is there fur overlaps the armor. there all bushy now and cudly!

and with the acrobatics shortage coming how will they jump around?

What? Just because they took the skill out doesn't mean they can't jump....

LOL mate, you do realise that most of the threads here are "Unofficial", you don't have to prefix your thread title with that.

I would think that they have better acrobatics implemented from the start but as your character levels up maybe some perks allow for better acrobatics. I'm not real sure how it will work but I'm happy that they took those skills out. The Kahjiits do look a lot better but we still haven't seen their lower halves. I liked how in Morrowind they actually looked like beasts and not human-like.

I think that the armor the kahjiit's wearing has some fur in it, to me it doesn't look like it overlaps it

Maybe there still is a speed attribute camouflaged under stamina. The more stamina, the higher speed, I don't know.

Awwww, not housecats, I imagine more like beautiful (bipedal versions of) tiger or lion cubs - honestly I hadn't thought of that at all until your post, but with children confirmed as being in the game I now really want to see some Khajiit youngsters.

Dynamic fur would be awesome. If they aren't doing cloth physics though, I wouldn't expect dynamic fur or hair either

I think they took out attributes and skills but they'll probably have something to remedy this (either perks, or some sort of racial thing)
As I said in another post about attributes, while there's no skills, that particular race may have certain multipliers and what have you with certain abilities, but since they're trying to break the spreadsheet'y feel of Oblivion, they just don't tell you about said multipliers. But in the race description (for Khajiits: They make excellent thieves and scouts, due to their unmatched agility) they can hint at what certain races can do without actually having any "numbers" for it. Least not that the player would ever see.
As I said in another-nother post, I don't think Todd Howard is enough of a [censored]-[censored] to do something like setting all races to one running speed and one jump height

Ugh. Silly censors. Lemmi rephrase for the censors.

It's the skeletal structure that I'm talking about. When cats are standing erect they look nothing like what they did in Oblivion. Their joints don't allow for a complete extension like us. And then the Argonian race Shouldn't even be able to stand because of how their backs are so elongated. But maybe I'm just taking it a little too far with the anatomy of earth. This is after all a fantasy world.

Matter of opinion my friend. Personally I don't like beast races in general. Call me racist, I don't care. Khajiit's and Argonians generally just annoy me in game with their..wonky dialog and..awkward cultural practices.. but if I WAS gonna go beast race I'd go Khajiit. =P

On the subject of Argonians, I've been wondering.... you just know they're going to have to do something special for an Argonian dragonborn. I wonder if NPCs will make jokes about how ironic it is, or something like that

Heck, after completing the Arena in Oblivion I dubbed my Argonian "Dragonheart", and I plan on continuing his story in Skyrim (for RP purposes I'm pretending he turned into a lich after defeating Mannimarco).... so, my Skyrim character is going to be an Argonian Dragonborn known in Cyrodill as Dragonheart. The game has to acknowledge this somehow :spotted owl:

I would imagine the khajiit would have a higher sprinting speed (and maybe a slightly higher jogging (running?)) from base. Hope Argonians have a higher swimming speed as well. There should be some perks affecting movement, maybe (like stated above) higher levels of stamina increase your movement abilities.

There will probably be perks that affect running/swimming speed and jump height, maybe certain races will be able to choose these earlier than others, or possibly have exclusive perks. Such as Argonians being able to breathe underwater, although, I would have thought they would have that as default.
