I'm quietly hoping to myself that with whatever improvements they're making with the engine powering this game that is would be easier for them to implement the additional animations required for having digitigrade beast races again. I recall this being the main issue that kept them from sticking with the Morrowind-style beast races for Oblivion, along with some player backlash about not being able to equip all items such as boots of blinding speed or whatnot.

In a perfect me-oriented world, I would see there being a check box of sorts next to your selection of Khajiit or Argonian, denoting whether or not you want to play as a more beast-ish variety or a more civilized variety (perhaps with the more beast-ish variety receiving some incentive to offset the limitations imposed on their armor selection.) Or perhaps they could follow the Istaria route and just have boots cut off at the toes when worn by beast races.

The Beast races should be more beastly. But, I'd like to go out on a limb here. A very safe limb. I think one of the many minor deficiencies with Oblivion (my favorite game) is that there was not enough differentiation between the races. I should like to see the race be a bit more different, or very different from what they were in Oblivion.

I've also often requested the snake people from Tsaesci Akavir. Which I know isn't the topic of this post, but I never miss a chance to shout out.

This is just an idea, not sure about what people think about it, but like in Oblivion how clothes change size so they can fit Bosmers to Altmers, how about the boots just get longer to fit on the longer beast feet and fold up at the toes since that's all they walk on?

That would look awkward. Although I guess Istaria's method looks kind-of awkward as well. So sure.

I'd like to see a few different forms of Khajiit in-game, not just Suthay-raht.

By the way, what I meant was looking something like this.

Where the feet aren't that long but a bit longer than peoples and have that only-standing -on-toes thing. And kinda like the armour here but ithas a sole as well because they're boots.

Morrowind = beast races
Oblivion = Furries

I'm with the beast races.

I prefer all races being as *different* as possible, always have. But I'm not getting my hopes up. It's far easier for games to be designed with everything the same rather than lots of unique and interesting features like cool beast races.

Anyone else annoyed by people saying, "Let them do it like in TES V! So they can do it their own way!"

A big part of these forums is to give imput to the dev's and maybe get our ideas implimented in the game, have opinions you spineless cowards.

You know, I would preffer to have Morrowind-style beast races, BUT with ability to wear boots and helmets. Someone suggested race-specific armor and I think thats a good Idea, but I got my own to present: armor will change shape depending if a humanoid or a beast wears it. I know it wont be very realistic, but gosh darnit its a game, and I dont want my argonian to not achive max defence because he cant wear the full deadric set (assuming it would be the strongest armor set). And running around not fully protected or with a lower tier helmet while being armored with other parts of deadric set would look just silly, not to mention running on snow without protection..... oh, and they need to wear underwear too.

I liked how it was in Oblivion but I probably won't be playing any beast type characters with the possible expection of an Orc if that counts as a Beast.

Although I prefer Morrowind's more beast-style aka. with the more creature like looks, I would have to agree with Unit Alpha, I'm fine with Oblivions interpretation it makes it less awkward especially if it is like Morrowind's where beasts can't wear shoes, especially if there is special enchanted shoes like the Boots of Springheel Jak, that would be such a bummer if you can't use them.

To offset this, they could give beast races more of a "boost" in their acrobatics, or give beast races some other way to put another piece of equipment on besides shoes to offset that slot so they can have as many buffs as non-beast races... like bows for my Khajiit female's tail (though I don't often use Khajiits, sooo...).

I always through the Khajit and Argonians should be more hunched over or something. For a completely different species, they should look and move differently than human-type characters.

Then again, TES never seemed to care about this, so I have no reason to suspect they will try to make them more realistic now.

They could raise the level cap of acrobatics and athletics to 150 for beastfolk, since they wouldn't be able to wear shoes.

I think they should be more varied, Like Subraces you pick Khajiit then are asked about subrace are you Suthay-raht, Ohmes, Ohmes-raht etc... although beyond what I've mentioned I don't think many would be actually playable.

THIS.
if i could be dagi i would die of happiness

I'm going to have to vote other. The khajiit and argonians in MW were way too lanky for my tastes. I want them more "beast-like," but not to look like twigs.

However, for khajiit, if it's an ohmes(-raht), it has to look quite human-like.

there are several different khajiit species/subspecies, arent there?

most of you guys sound like you think theres only one race, represented differently in each game.

i think it'd be interesting if they gave us a couple different khajiit species to use... more human-like ones like in oblivion, or more beast-like ones for those people who like the more animal-like ones.

probably wont happen, but it'd be interesting,

One thing I'd like for Khajiit specifically is a tail that's not just ornamental. I don't mean a tail you can attack with. But hold a torch with? Sure. Pick-pocket with? Absolutely. And please do not make it static at any rate.

Morrowind - keeping in mind that this is SKYRIM and not Morrowind 2.0

If they draw on some aspects from morrowind and do their own thing with them, I would be more than happy :)

I don't think a khajiit's tail is that dexterous. I'd see it more as a balancing tool (better to sneak with). Argonians, on the other hand, could probably used their tail as a weapon to smack someone on the side of the head in unarmed combat.

About the Argonian

"...and swim using the same body mechanism as that of a tadpole or eel, waving its tail side-to-side to propel itself through the water."

I do not know how credible the Elder Scrolls Wiki Lore is, but I miss this.

The ideal scenario would be to give the beast races entirely unique builds, i.e. Argonian and Khajiit have different body structures due to their differing evolutionary paths. Contrary to popular belief, Morrowind did not handle this elegantly. Trading off the ability to wear certain forms of equipment for a more bestial body is not an option. For this to work, Skyrim would need entirely new clothes/armor meshes specifically to fit beast races - otherwise, it's simply not worth doing.

Ultimately, I want beast races to be contenders out there. Preventing an Argonian from wearing boots in the freezing cold of Skyrim simply won't do.
