Beasts of OB and MW

Why are their no cool beasts in OB

Compare

http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Creatures

In MW there where more unique animals it created a more unique feel for the game, OB feels more cooky cutter. What is the lore that made the animals in OB so "normal"

Vvardenfell is the land of all that is unholy and goofy, it is foolish and wrong to expect strange things like that anywhere else. People who played Morrowind would know that.

Damn right we do. And it's a shame that this level of strangeness and quirkiness in creatures was not carried onto Oblivion.

You have to understand the enviroment of Vvardenfell. Ashen, barren, totally alien. The creatures therein have to adapt to suit it. Plus, Talos knows yon Cyrodiils hate jungles. This is why he filled the land with sheep and bears, which are fuzzy and mundane. He loves them ya know.

"Accepted" answer: Because only totally weird animals show up in totally weird places like Morrowind. Cyrodiil is too normal for weird animals to thrive.

My answer: Because Bethesda had a brainfart when creating the game and couldn't think of anything original to put in, so they just chucked in generic fantasy monsters like trolls, minotaurs, ogres and... sheep. Everything is better with sheep.

Creatures can be creative and interesting without being downright strange. Cyrodiil didn't even try.

Hell, I would have been satisfied with some Ancestor Moths.

There were moths around the Ancestor Moth Temple, if you looked closely.

Cyrodiil does have Land Dreughs, three-eyed trolls, and mountain lions (seriously, mountain lions don't get featured in fantasy games very often).

Those were normal moths, and they're all over the place.

Actually, that is one connection that I would dearly love to have expanded. Do the moths have a purpose in the mystic activities of the Moth Priests, spore dreams and scroll-reading, or are they just a characteristic of the order.

Damn skippy (no offense).

Someone may have said it, but Cyrodiil could be seen as a land semi-equatable to medieval Europe. I honestly hate to make an association liek that, but that's the best way I feel i could explain it in this thread.

. But you won't find too many people complaining about there being none in Cyrodiil.

I thought because they where smack in the middle of everyone that they would have the most animals from all the other lands that border them

What do you know of moths in the Cyrodiilic religion?

Better yet, how do we know if a moth is just a normal moth or an Ancestor Moth?

OB is missing most of the good things from MW like the spears the crossbows the darts and the throwing knives and throwing stars...and those are just the weapons...the fact that it was missing most of the creatures didn't surprise me. If I wanted a REALLY good RPing game I'd just take the graphics and combat system (combat system not weapons) of OB and apply them to MW...now that would be good....

When the Council of Elders convenes in mythopolitik, a cloud of Ancestors forms above the Council Table, called by droning hum of the Moth Priests' mantras. The gathered Moth Priests are then able to interpret the ancestors' will by listening for their whispers in the wingbeats of the swarm.

Well, they will soon, at any rate.

More on topic, Cyrodiil was supposed to be somewhat exotic, as well. Where are the river dragons? :(

And that sounds like the 1st PGE, but I really want the little winged buggers to have some connection to their other practices as well. It's lead to sort of a fascination with them- symbols of the strangeness in Nibenay.

Aye, worry not. The moth priests will have their posses, and we'll add some background on them as well.

Also, I have a real-life model for the moths, now. http://www.mothindex.com/images/tolype.jpg.

EDIT: Link is fixed nao. ._.
