Beat the game at level 10, ridiculous

Post » Fri Dec 16, 2011 9:00 am

I beat the main quest at a mere level 10 on my first go. I was not exploiting or failing to level up for a while. That is not meant to brag, but as I levelled up, I assumed I would need to be at least level 70 or thereabouts before the end of the game. But no, suddenly I realise I have killed the main bad dude in the game. WTF is going on? This series used to be hard. It took me less than 7 hours to complete the main quest. I am so Disappointed at what bethesda did with this game it's now aimed at console kiddies who need their hand held throughout the whole game.

You might have had a point, but your comment on console kiddie dumbing down won't garner you much support :)

Umm...The Main Quest for Skyrim is not one of those "Must do it or else" kind of quests. You could have ignored it entirely if you wanted to.

What I'm trying to say here is. It's not Bethesda or the games fault. It's your fault for rushing through the main quest. Okay?

Besides where were you when people were blowing through the main quest at level 1 in Oblivion?

Finishing the main quest is one thing, beating the game is another for most of the TES community.

And a speed run can be done in 2 hours, your point?

What difficulty level did you have set?

Also, if you're just going to rush through the main quest then yes, you're going to do it at a lower level.

It was a feat that was possible in Morrowind, Oblivion, Fallout 3 and New Vegas. Or did you think they managed to level up almost all the way during the speed runs they did?

edit: Actually looking at the Ops posting history looks like he just likes to hate on the game. Wonder if he's even played it or is one of those that likes to review the forums for the most prolific complaints and then post a thread about how he hates the same problems?

Seven hours is an honorable effort, but you still need to beat the play testers' own 2 hours 16 minutes record. Get to it.

The game is designed to let you do whatever you want whenever you want. Which means it all scales to your level. I have a level 40 that hasn't touched the main quest

You do realise that there is a whole host of monsters in the game that are almost twice as hard as alduin.

Ontop of that.. your prophecy was to defeat him, your made to defeat him.. It doesnt matter what meta-physical level you were.. hes going to seem just as hard regardless of the level.
You completely missed the whole point of games like this.

Morrowind, very hard and takes ages and a high lvl character to beat the game! oh wait nope :)

Yeah I know most people won't be able to do it that way but still, a TES game is not about how fast you can complete it, it's a journey of your character and the main quest is only a small part of it!

Morrowind can be beaten in less than 15 minutes with no cheats or exploits.

Well I do have to say that watching my brother play at Novice is a much different experience than me playing on Master, he rushed through Bleak Falls Barrow in no time while it took me many hours (enjoyable looking around, taking all the art and design in as well).

Also, dragon was dead in like 2 minutes for him while it took me 20 minutes.

Freedom to do what we want, at the expense of any logical sense. Beating the main quest, heck beating Alduin at all at a low level is absurd in my opinion. A pre level 40 or 50+ character has no business facing down and defeating what is essentially a demigod without being completely trashed.

Uncharted 3, took me 9 hours for the whole game, the whole game.
Assasins Creed 11 hours for the whole game.

7, for the main quest alone in Skyrim, seems fair enough to me.

Some of us like immersion.

"DRAGONS ATTACKING KILL THEM NOW!!!!"

Can't exactly be ignored. I don't what's so hard about Morrowind's handling of the main quest. "Go train. Make a name for yourself then come see me for orders" - Caius Cosades.

Also, I don't know about Oblivion, but Morrowind can't be beaten in 20 minutes. I challenge ANYONE EVER to complete Morrowind in 20 minutes with no prior knowledge to the game. It's impossible. Unless you know the ins and outs of the entire system, it's going to take you a long time.

Well... yay for you. You did nothing but play the main quest (and still took way longer than the record.) There are many not great comments in this not great thread.
