Beauty! ...Mk II

Post » Sat Mar 06, 2010 3:57 am

I asked my two younger elder brothers what their trip to Ireland was like as teens. They said it was good but really weird. Apparently all the girls where either REALLY ugly or REALLY drop dead gorgeous. No middle ground. This has made me want to visit Ireland to see if it's true. And to try some of that famous Ireland brew

I had Ireland on my list of places I want to visit anyway, but damn thats motivation to go, ask someone from Ireland if its true, also whichpart N or S Ireland ?

Southerner meself. Can't really say I've experienced that. Wouldn't say I'm totally star material, but I draw attention from time to time. Not that my mixed heritage as seen left of this post makes me look very "Oirish".
Generally speaking, black Irish tend to have more Mediterranean features and redheads have a lot in common with Scandinavian looks. Maybe that's just your brothers tastes regarding either. ^_^

The Republic of Ireland (everything but the Northern tip) is where the pretty lasses are, Northerners are more English looking, and we all know what that means. . .

I still believe there are no women like German women.

And English. Wouldn't be so bad if they were all Scottish looking, we Gaelic people share most of our ancestry.

My family must be the least gaelic looking gaels on the planet. We're all dark haired with Roman noses. Unfortunately we kept the pasty skin.

You don't really need to know a celebrity personally to know if they have a good personality, you can usually tell by seeing how they act in public.

Indeed, just look at Paris Hilton; not only is she quite ugly, her personality also lacks any kind of redeeming qualities, as can be divined from every single second of video ever shot of her.

To be quite, quite frank, I have a different conception of beauty than almost anyone else in the world. I'm not looking for someone who's stereotypically prettier on the inside, but unless there's some spark on the inside I just lose all interest. Now, what that spark is can change from person to person, but usually they have to be imaginative and decent enough people. People who are willing to talk about stuff like dreams and silliness like which number is the coolest.

Now, as for the physical, I'm much more lax. I usually like someone who's not 'generic,' even if they're not perfect paragons of human beauty. Most people are very beautiful when they laugh anyway, and I like to think of myself as a rather funny guy. As a matter of fact, I think I care more about how often they laugh and what they look like when they laugh then what they look like elsewhere.

Sure, there are some people who I find prettier than others physically, but that's a minor concern and almost everyone seems to have some attractive qualities to them.

You're English aren't you? Englishmen don't count as Gaels, only Irishmen (and women) :grad:.

Aside from the physical, I'd like a woman who I wouldn't feel like a weirdo around. Someone who I could talk about games with and join me on my random sojourns throughout my college campus.

While I live in England, virtually all my family before 1930 were Irishmen living in Wexford. So I am technically an Englishman of Irish genetics.

About one quarter were local landowners in England since the 13th century, the rest, all Irish. And weirdly, its the Irish branches that are all darker, the English ones are all Blonde and blue eyed.

I shall have to find a woman with matching genetics to continue our old mediterranean phenotype. :P

Perfectly normal, what most people outside the Island consider an "Irish look" - as in redhead, pale, freckled - is the minority in Ireland, too. Human genetics still apply. ^_^

Okay, let me rephrase that: The average redhead quota is still higher than in most Western countries since the gene pool offers enough people to warrant that - but it's not higher than Wales, and Scotland still has a higher percentage, about 13 percent if I remember correctly.
Thinking of my old class til I was 16, we had eight redheads among 22 kids. The Southwest near the coast is also known to have a much higher quota, combined with the accents that kind of reinforces the image of this area being "real" Ireland. ^_^

You really should. It's just magical there. Granted, I'm a little biased having spent my conscious childhood there. ^_^
Uh, yeah, we're kind of offtopic. Let's get back to nagging about beauty standards.

Attractive, but unremarkable. Just the kind of face you forget half a second after you've looked away.

Really?

I mean... really!?

On the subject of redheads, I know a few totally stunning ones. Heartening after all this talk lately about natural red and blonde hair dying out in the UK. All is not lost!

No mention of daywalkers plz

Its annoying how women/girls and sometimes boys never really stick to a colour here, I dont even know someme peoples actual hair colour, it just changes every few months, for some reason it annoys me. (dying hair different colours) I have no idea why ?
