ooc: I am leaving the result of this post in Elionwy's hands, it has the potential to change the main quest and any storylines you may have created Elionwy so I figured it'd be best.

It had become clear to Craig that the castle was alot larger than he had expected, there were corridors going off at every angle, doors along every wall and yet his escort knew exactly where to go. They sure are missing something. he thought, admiring every painting they walked past. His father was an artist and he'd lived above an art gallery for most of his life so he'd learnt to appreciate art and could tell when something was of good quality. The detail is staggering. he commented, "How old are most of these paintings?" He asked, breaking the silence between the two.
"Not very, there aren't many older works now, but most are 50 or so years old." He replied with an indifferent shrug, "The countess loves them all though, she's a real admirer of paintings." As if on cue, the guard stopped by a door and knocked twice, "This is his office, he should be in." He added, and upon hearing the command to enter he opened the door and let Craig in, "Captain, I bring someone who could have some important news regarding Kvatch."
As Craig walked in, the first thing he noticed was the temperature, it was much cooler in here, there were no torches lit and instead a large glass window let in a cool breeze which sent ripples into the rich tapestries that covered the walls, "He does, does he?" Replied a voice, it belonged to a man sitting at table in the middle of the room, as Craig scanned the room quickly for other people, he noticed that the room was infact, pretty large and yet, the table was the only real furniture save for a few cupboards and a bench or two along the edges of the room. "Well, I'm Bitneld, captain of the guard here in Chorrol, and yours is?" He asked, standing up and nearly reaching the ceiling.
"Uhh, Craig - Just Craig." he stated, the captain was a daunting man, obviously nord, strong with chiselled features; the man looked as dangerous as he did intelligent. "I come with grave news, most of it - I'm sure will sound far-fetched but you must believe me and you must let me finish." He instructed, much to the well dressed nords disliking but, he nodded and asked the guard to leave and shut the door behind him. Upon doing so, Craig began to tell the guard of his lie, "Forgive me for my attire, I am from the Imperial City and my sister does love to make me weird clothes." He laughed nervously, deciding he shouldn't had said that - "But anyway, I am a church going man, I've loved Akatosh all my life and I will devote myself to him for the remainder of my days. So, it may come as no surprise that I was praying this morning in the forests of Chorrol when Akatosh came to me, his voice filled my mind and I felt a great tranquility come over me, it wasn't to last though as what he told me was horrible.. Absolutely horrible." He lied, shaking his head as if he was truly disgusted by what he had heard, "He told me of the emperors assination, that this morning he was to be murdered by the Mythic Dawn cult and Kvatch was to be attacked by the daedric forces of Mehrunes Dagon." he looked up to the Captain who sat in his chair and watched him silently, the man was fiddling with his fingers on the table obviously nervous of the truth.
"That's all he told me and I hurried here as fast as I could to tell you about it, the.. The Emperor is dead now, Akatosh has told me that, but Kvatch can still be saved." He pleaded, hoping his plan had worked. For a moment after his speech, the two men stood in silence, one in thought and the other in fear. "You must understand I will first have to speak to the countess, your story sounds reasonable, we have seen many magical things from the gods and it makes sense for Mehrunes to want to attack while the emperor is dead. But that does not mean I believe you, you are a stranger here and I will have to take that into consideration - Did Akatosh tell you anything else?" He asked, obviously trying to figure out if Craig would be of more use. To which Craig replied with a simple shaking of his head.
"Nothing more than what I have told you."
"Very well, you should return to your family and, if your story is true, grieve for the Emperor and pray for Cyrodiil." He stated nodding slightly, "Now go, I have much to do."
With that, Craig hurried out of the room, opening the door to find the guard who had escorted him earlier waiting for him, they greeted each other with a simple nod and before he knew it, they were walking back the way they came, through the warm and drowzy halls that would lead to the castle exit.
