Because of all the negative threads...

Post » Sat Dec 10, 2011 10:23 am

I just wanted to post a positive one. Todd's team has done an amazing job. This is absolutely on my top five list.

I was walking through Whiterun, it was getting late and the sun was going down. The lovely theme kicks in, and it all just comes together. Everything was amazing at that moment. Even that Graymane kid who bullies people was tolerable.

The game has problems, sure, but the positive parts outweigh the negative ones by far.

Great game, and I can't wait for the DLC and the Creation Kit.

Gods the people on these forums can be real downers at times. Glad to see something constructive for once.

The game is great. I don't see what people are talking about. Sure the game has a few bugs. I have not encountered anything that makes me say this is a bad game. For its size and openness I have to say its one of the best on the market.

Agreed!

I haven't played a perfect game ever. You can always come up with somethign you owuld have liked the designers to have done differently.

But I'm haveing a complete blast playing Skyrim. Wish I could be playing it right now.

Come on, we can't have a thread here without some kind of vehement complaint about the game.

Here's one: Bethesda completely screwed up...the...uh...the font they use in the manual. I HATE it! It's UNREADABLE! Can't wait until modders give us a new pdf of the manual to download.

Why must the mod community fix all your typeface choices, Bethesda?! What are we paying you guys for?

Oh, and the game? Well, it's...pretty amazing.

No, the name is a coincidence.

Somebody else said it best.

I don't know who to give the credit too though.

"As long as Bethesda keeps half-assing it compared to every other developers full blown attempt, I'm happy"

Modding support is where it's at.

All these complainers....they are useful.

I've been a software developer for almost 10 years and I can tell that it's impossble to build a user-proof application. No matter how much you test your software, if it's not super simple the users will find a way to break it.

In a software as complex as Skyrim I'm actually amazed by the relatively small amount of bugs it had on launch day.

I'm sure it will get even better as the patches come out.

Kudos to Bethesda for putting this piece of art together. I'm enjoying every minute of it.

It's the definition of awesome and I'm still having a great time. I'm being challenged greatly to learn all that it has to offer and I learn something new each time I play about the weapons, enchantments, armor, creatures, etc. There's so many ways to accomplish the same task and I can see myself playing for years. It's a downer about the complainers but it's sad too. I wish they felt the way I feel because it's so goooooood.

Yes the game is awesome. But you can not dismiss enormous problems like CTD every 10min, this is simply unacceptable and unignorable.

Lovely graphics(except faces)
Beautiful landscape
Epic musical score

Those are the only positive things i can say about this game. Although, it does help me appreciate Oblivion in some ways, which is a game i truly detest.

Exactly! I have started to learn how to program, and from my limited time I've spent I can tell you there is no way to make a program user proof. The size and complexity of this game there will be bugs. There are so few in this game I was really surprised. I think if more people took sometime to learn about basic coding they would understand just how complex this game really is and it would dawn on them how impressive it is.

You have a point there, it's entirely possible to like a game and criticise it's faults just because you want to see it even better, wheras praise is great of course, but you can't learn as much from it.

Yes but there is of course a valid place for both as they serve their own purposes, independent of each other.

With praise you learn that you are doing something right and should continue down that path.
With criticism, you learn the opposite and that you should consider changing what you're doing.

Both are good lessons and both are equally valid. :)

When you grew up playing games that actually looked like this, Skyrim is a dream come true. No its not perfect, but at least I don't have to blow into the cartridge and wiggle it just so to get it to play - if I'm lucky.
