Because patch 1.2 is broken, if I want to play Skyrim

Post » Wed Dec 14, 2011 11:45 am

Xbox Live is a paid service.

XBOX LIVE IS A PAID SERVICE!

I use it for more than just online gaming, in fact the online gaming part is a small part for me because I generally play single player. The most valuable use for me is keeping in touch with my brothers who live in Cali, Hawaii, and England. With Xbox Live we can all talk to each other easily and inexspensively. Even if I didn't play games on Xbox I would easily get my value for Xbox Live for my conversation to the UK alone.

However, Skyrim's lame patch 1. 2 is robbing me of being able to fully use my Xbox Live service, if I want to play Skyrim. Because I refuse to download this bogus patch I have to play offline, which means I cannot communicate with my family. Thanks Bethesda, and by thanks I mean you guys are seriously rude.

PATCH 1.2 NEEDS TO BE REMOVED FROM XBOX LIVE BECAUSE FORCING IT ON PEOPLE (IF THEY WANT TO BE ONLINE) IS AN INSULT TO PAYING XBOX LIVE CUSTOMERS.

I know you need time to get patch 1.3 right and that's fine, but patch 1.2 should be removed in the meantime.

Be patient. An incremental patch for all platforms is coming out this week. I've been running Steam in offline mode for about a week as well.

Generally there is a sense of entitlement due to the fact that as paying coustomers we are entitled to owning a game which isn't broken...

You do realise that the game asks you if you want to download the patch, right? And you get the chance to say no?

Because that simple fact invalidates every single aspect of your argument.

Sense of entitlement? He wants to use his service, but can't because they haven't pulled a bad patch is a sense of entitlement? I don't think they need any more apologists.

Xbox Live is a paid service.

Only if you choose to pay for Gold level service. The service level of Silver you need for the game is Free.

Your fault for paying for the service, Your paying for internet AND your paying for the right to be able to use your xbox on the internet service you ALREADY pay for. Gotta love microsoft eh? PC doesn't have to pay for service :)

Is Microsoft not somewhat at fault here to?

I mean, yeah, Bethesda fubar'd the patch, but it's actually Live it self being the pain here, as I understand it. It's Live saying "sorry, no patch, no Live for you". not Bethesda. (Again, as I understand the system.)

Bethesda has their share of burden to bare here, but it's not completely their fault.

I realise which is exactly the point of my post and the crux of my argument.

Because patch 1.2 is broken, I choose to NOT DOWNLOAD. This however forces me to play OFFLINE which in turn means I do not get to use my Xbox Live features to their full capability. Do you understand yet?

I'm at fault?

So because I pay for Xbox Live it is my fault that the game forces me offline if I don't want to use the patch which cause all kinds of issues with the software?

You really don't make any sense.

Yeah it's your fault as well, who in their right minds would PAY to be able to play online, when they already PAY to have internet? -looks at PC and PS3 users- We don't have to pay for the RIGHT to play online, we get that when we pay for internet. Microsoft is a money svcking leech, I'll never see why people use it.

Yes Microsoft is at fault as well.

It isn't that big of a deal but I just think the patch shouldbe pulled while we wait for a new patch so this one single game doesn't disrupt people's use of Xbox Live.

I completely understand that you don't feel like Xbox Live is worthwhile service and I respect your opinion. I disagree and am generally happy with the service. They almost always offer deals for renewal and I haven't paid more than 39.99 for Xbox for quite a few years. 40 bucks for 1 year is quite acceptable. I understand you don't like Xbox Live and obviously don't use it, so why are you piosting in this thread?

So you have a choice then, talk to your brothers, or play Skyrim. My advice, wait for the patch and play other games in the meantime. Complaining usually isn't going to solve anything. Deal with it. Be patient. No amount of complaining will cause the problem to get fixed any quicker. This forum is for people who have technical issues to come forward with. This is not an issue with Skyrim, but an issue caused by your unwillingness to figure out a solution to a problem caused by a patch for Skyrim. Figure it out on your own and stop whining.

Eh to be honest I posted because we all share the same dislike for gaming companies, whether it be Microsoft, or Bethesda, they all screw us over, but PC users get the SHORTEST end of the stick, damn console ports >.> Solution? Put skyrim down until the CK(CreationKid) comes out. Now you may say "BUT ITS FOR THE PC USERS!!" Well, with the CK comming out, a PATCH will also come with it, it will be out January, If you're like me I'm sure you have a good 60 hours invested in the game, I'm saving the flavor untill mods come out, you could save the flavor untill a patch comes out (in January) to fix your problem, play some BF3 (MW3 kinda svcks, we all know it)

Well, I sympathize. I too feel that removing the 1.2 patch in favour of no patch at all seems the prudent choice. I'm going to guess that this is a management decision more than a technical issue. The game is still going to be here next week, and B only needs to batten down the hatches and weather the storm until the next patch is out and this willl all blow over.

I probably don't have to say this, but the onvious solution is to put Skyrim on hold until you're confident the matter is resolved. What else are you going to do? Quit Skyrim forever? Better to put it on hold, even indefinetly. Quit XBox Live? If you have an alternative you'd be using it already.

For me, I'd say keeping in contact with family is the greater priority.

(I've got the 1.2 patch installed, met a Frost Dragon that completely disregarded my defenses and I haven't played the game since. Maybe it's time to load up Oblivion again?)

I understand perfectly... You can still use Xbox live fully for every other game. It's only when you're playing Skyrim that you can't. So... pick up the phone if you want to chat to people.

Also removal of a patch would be on MS hands (though that just opens a whole other can of worms)

Anyways 1.2 isnt broken for everyone, works just fine for me, I get to enjoy my LIVE services :)

Haha you're really cute. You ever tried calling England? Way expensive. Also what's with the personal attacks.

I made it clear in my OP that I understand if it takes them time to fix the problems, but want patch 1.2 pulled while they are getting things right. My position is the most reasonable and people like you are not contributing anything worthwhile to the conversation.
