Becomin a Jarl or Taking Control in Different Ways

Post » Thu Dec 15, 2011 3:45 am

So I came up with an idea about becoming a Jarl or taking control of a hold in some way.

Male Dragonborn, Siding with Imperials - Marry Elisef in the end and become a Jarl. Then we can talk about becoming a High King, too. You defeated the World Eater. Is there anybody who can do that except you?

Female Dragonborn, Siding with Stormcloaks - Marry Ulfric. Choose to be a ruler next to him.

So, what do you think?

And thus end your adventuring days.

I don't know why you'd want to be Jarl. I'd rather be Emperor. Or Divine.

Why would the HIgh King of Skyrim (Or Jarl of Solitude) be doing favors to the Court Wizard of Riften?

I don't know why you'd want to be Jarl. The game is clearly set up so that the PC becomes Emperor between now and the next game.

I think most of you remember Dragon Age:Origins. A Jarl like Alistair. Yourr wife rules the land and you lead the troops, adventure by yourself etc.

I think the real question is why either Jarl would waste their time marrying a lowborn adventurer.

The blood marrys the blood, and all that.

I tried a hostile takeover but it turns out you can't kill Jarls. You can kill pretty much everyone else though.

Are you talking about how to do that for role-playing reasons or are you suggesting that the option could be built into the game?

There's always a point where, going further and developing more options, would lead to a whole new kind of game. I guess something could be done, like the citizens reacting to you with appropriate lines and you could get a few traits (like the ones you get from becoming a thane or marrying) but the developer couldn't go into features regarding managing a city or they'd basically need to develop a game inside the game.

The option could be built into the game and I think that adds to the play time.

Sure, but to be done right, this game would be released much later or the main features of the game would suffer. Unless managing aspects of the city would be just some mini-game that people wouldn't really care about.

Things like that could definitely come out on DLC or mods though.

I would rather take over one of the deadric planes. I am a nightingale and a werewolf, so my soul is promised to both Hircine and Nocturnal. Just use my dragonborn power to steal the power of the winner of that fight.

Because, it appears that Dragon blood is passed on to your heirs. Were I royalty I'd think getting dragon blood in the family line would be a pretty awesome thing.
