Becoming a count/countess

Post » Fri Feb 05, 2010 1:32 am

Is there anyone out there who would like a questline where the goal is to rule one of the cities in Cyrodiil? If so, what city would you like to rule and what would the benefits be?

One of the mods I use, "Kvatch Rebuilt", lets me become the countess by the end, which is quite neat.

My Argonian Lizarious would like to rule over Leyawin and put an end to the racism there.

My new Bosmer girl jodie however would very much like to rule over Bravil, she would shut down the skooma den an evict all of the addicts. She believes that Bravil is a lump of coal that could be polished to reveal a somewhat rough diamond.

Being on computer, I have access to mods that allow one to become count or countess. During my first play-through I ran two such. As I recall, Kvatch Rebuilt offers count-ship as an option. I declined. The other mod, which shall remain nameless, allowed me to become count of a non-vanilla city-state in its own worldspace. The result was underwhelming. After assuming the title, I was told that the realm ran well enough on its own and didn't need my help. A sort of "Thanks a bunch, write if you get work" arrangement.

This playthrough I'm using a different Kvatch renovation mod, one that doesn't offer lordship, and haven't yet installed the other mod (though I might).

That said, I think city rulership is a good idea, so long as one assumes the responsibilities along with the title. Gathering taxes. Administering justice. Overseeing guards and other military functions. Commerce. Diplomacy. Road and structure maintenance. Etc. It should be a great burden, cutting into one's adventure time. Ideally, it should be set up providing options to turn some of those responsibilities over to underlings, but then those underlings would need to be monitored.

Yes, and no. I would love questlines that allow for changes to city leadership - just not to my character.

My character will someday help to rebuild Kvatch, but ultimately, she is too much of a free spirit to ever to be tied down with the responsibilities of ruling a city. Heck, she will never rise to be the head of her guild either, for the same reason. She is a scout and adventuress, not a leader or ruler. Now that said, she knows who she wants to rule Kvatch after it is rebuilt.

Other cities? Most are fine with their current leadership; but not all of them. . . .

She believes if Marius Caro could get his racist wife under control, he could become a fine ruler for Leyawiin. She figures anyone who would make her friend Mazoga a real knight can't be all bad.

Bravil, her home town, is a tragedy. Such a sad story how a once tournament champion has turned into such a, well, worm. Buffy would love to see him replaced. Heck almost any of her friends would make a better leader of Bravil than Regulus Terentius. Even Nordinor could do a better job, lol.

Actually, this goes for my dunmer Lothran as well. His hometown of Bruma is his child however and will help out whenever given the chance

I wouldn't want to become a Count. I'm a thief, not a ruler. I kill people too.

I would probably set about trying to fix Bravil up.

My character, Gregreo, wouldn't mind ruling Chorrol, Bruma, or Skingrad, but he feels that his position as one of the upper rich folks is just enough for him. Bravil? He doesn't care much for it, thinks they deserve to live in a sewage town for what they did to his parents. (His only friend there is City Swimmer and only because he worries about her mental state since she refers to herself as a male Argonian.)

He's too much of a laid-back man and being the ruler would put a cramp on his adventures, and seriously hinder his ability to spend time with his wife and child.

Rainman would love to become an honorary Count of Kvatch but feels that the real Countship belongs to someone else. He would also like to see new leadership in Bravil and Cheydinhal that doesn't involve corruption or a worm of a son.

I believe that was originally planned by Bethesda, but dropped during deveploment. My assassin character wouldn't really want such fame and my Spellsword has her hands full being the new archmage :D (Or so i've heard the MG ends, i've never finished any guilds questline )

I love Anvil, except I also like the current count and countess there and wouldn't want to replace them.

Matthias, my argonian (See avatar) is too conniving to take up a throne himself. He's orchestrate someone else getting it, but having them in his pocket for future use. After all, he helped put them there. He'll definitely cash in a very serious favor at a later date.

None of my characters so far have wanted such a position, they'd rather be free to roam. A couple of my characters couldn't possibly even hope to have the job granted to them!

I did just start my first male character last week. I can say with certainty he's gonna be like all the others so far, and will need the freedom to roam, therefore he wouldn't make a good count because he'd rarely stick around to hold court in his town. Then again, the count of Skingrad never seems to be around either...

If I had to choose a place, it would be Bravil, simply to fix it up. Sharak already has cleared out the skooma den for the count, and the count already had an "accident" with a certain Dunmer who may or may not have vanished into thin air. So, as soon as Sharak is properly dismissed or fired from Leyawiin, its off to Bravil to start the "A.T.H.O.L" (Annoy The Hell Out of Leyawiin)

Well since my main character chills out in the battlehorn castle he probaly would be the count of Chorrol plus he (unlike my other characters) likes the feeling of being in charge,he's the Deadric Prince of Madness for goodness sake :cake:

I've only read the first chapters and I've got an idea of who.

I would be in charge of Anvil(secret passageways) or Bruma(lord knows that they need a better one considering a certain tunnel leads right into their city).

I wouldn't mind ruling Leiywen. Have a secret underground torture chamber for unruly citizens. They vanish and are never heard from again.

It'd be like the USSR!

I wouldn't really like a quest where you become a Count, especially considering the disappoint with "becoming the guild leader". Although if I could, I would probably choose Chorrol or Skingrad.

^_^ I get to be the ruler of Shivering Isles. That's very cool. Other than that, wish my hero could become the Empress of Cyrodil, after all there is a vacancie.

I wouldn't mind a mod for conquering all of Cyrodiil... one town at a time...

Added a bit latter: For the Elwseyrine Empire!!!!!
