Becoming king?

You are the next Dragonborn so you are pretty much destined to be the next Emperor.

Becoming a Lord would be nice. Building your own fort, owning your own town or village and land would be pretty cool. But becoming a King/queen is to much.

This ^^^^ would be brilliant. Should be optional, the guy you support in the civil war as king should offer you land and title at the end of the main quest in return for your service to him. That would be sweet :intergalactic:

Becoming the monarch would be stupid though, as people have said, wouldn't make any sense. Then again a prominent noble going around saving peasants' daughters from mudcrabs seems a bit improbable too, but not as much as the king himself...

the player is always anonymous.. royal people are documented.. painted etc... not happening

If you talk to a Blade after you beat Oblivion, he talks about waiting for the next dragonborn to be the next emperor.

Again, there are MANY Dragonborn. It has already been told that there were many more of them in past but something killed them through time.
It has also been mentioned that Septims are just one Dragonborn dynasty. Emperors are usually Dragonborn, but most Dragonborn are not Emperors. Hell, the current ruling dynasty could also be Dragonborn but without any intention of leaving for Skyrim to face Alduin.

IF you have followers... which you probably won't have... and take into consideration that taking over a throne ain't as simpel as D&D wants you to believe: usurpation usually calls for foreign invasions who claim they want to save the country... note the word clam.

You mean, like joining a great house? :P

I'm sure Beth will do fine with the writing. But I think that the whole race issue does pretty easily rule out kingship for the PC.

I'd rather my character didn't become king, but carried on adventuring instead.

I have a hunch that becoming a king would be very boring.

Thanks for asking, but my characters do not want to become King or Queen.

A homestead in a nice part of the country wold be a nice reward, however.

Becoming king (or queen, I don't get why people think its only king) seems sorta out of place. I'm picturing a king going out and assasinating people for Sithis.

While I hope it wont happen they sing "Dovahkiin, OUR KING" in the trailer. Lets hope that does not imply something.
It would be cool to become a noble though. Own land, an estate etc, but not being so important that you had to be present all the time. You would of course have the option too run your land on a day-to-day basis or give some basic orders for your employees to follow. That is just my opinion though.

*sigh*
They sing:

DOVAHKIIN DOVAHKIIN
NAAL OK ZIN LOS VAHRIIN
WAH DEIN VOKUL MAHFAERAAK AHST VAAL
AHRK FIN NOROK PAAL GRAAN
FOD NUST HON ZINDRO ZIN
DOVAHKIIN FAH HIN KOGAAN MU DRAAL

AHRK FIN KEL LOST PRODAH
DO VED VIING KO FIN KRAH
TOL FOD ZEYMAH WIN KEIN MEYZ FUNDEIN
ALDUIN FEYN DO JUN
KRUZIIK VOKUN STAADNAU
VOTH AAN BAHLOK WAH DIIVON FIN LEIN

Translated:
Dragonborn Dragonborn
By his honor is sworn
To keep evil forever at bay
And the fiercest foes rout
When they hear triumph's shout
Dragonborn for your blessing we pray

And the scrolls have fortold
Of black wings in the cold
That when brothers wage war come unfurled
Alduin bane of kings
Ancient shadow unbound
With a hunger to swallow the world
