Go to bed earlier

Post » Sun Sep 26, 2010 11:32 am

.....the days will go by quicker. :)

I hate to add to all speculation threads, but I thought I'd just make 1 and only 1 for giggles.

I've played FPSs for awhile: half life->counterstrike->halo2->cod4->almost every other fps that died off almost right away.

I still go back to cod4, mainly because of the skill level ceiling is so high. Not quickscoping or even fast aiming "skills". But rather knowing the maps in-and-out, how to move, when to run, when to be cautious, when to be the bait and run across to draw fire while your team mows them down. 1000 little techniques like that. The way the match is progressing determined my play style as well, which I find most players don't adjust to. I was gonna make this a stupidly long post and give way to many examples so I'll try to keep it short.

Basicly, I started going back to starcraft, then sc2 when it was released. I've been playing it non-stop since release, because I enjoy the feeling of getting better and better and making improvements. I had dropped all fps games, and thought them silly compared to the skill ceiling of sc's.

Brink seems to be the bridge from cod4 for me (I know you all have your own FPS game that you love like me) to now that will now blow the top off how well you can play this game the more you play it. Just 2 friends who play together a lot and understand the game, will be a thing of awe, let alone an entire team. I miss the prime cod4 days where lobbies would stay the same for hours, and rivalries would organicly happen and force you to play better the next match to one-up them. Ah the good ol days.

In a nutshell, this game will rock and I can't wait :D

As long as this does not turn into a game bashing thread then It is safe.

Though this game is mainly on team work in cod you would play with random players (Unless wouth friends) and fight on your own for kill brink you play together and work to get an objective.

Sorry to have to be the bad guy here. But i feel the same way with Halo.

I think the best thing about brink is that its going to be played differently, entirely.
You cant lone wolf all the time. You cant hide with team mates all the time. Camping wont get you anywhere and there are not particular power weapons.
Those and other reasons are why im excited for brink.
8 day left for Australia now. :celebrate:

I am not hating on CoD, I just have never played it and do not care much for solo online shooters, i prefer the team approach and feel that a victory is more satisfactory that way. This seems like it will be a one of a kind game, and just the thing i have been searching for since I finished BFBC2.

I was never a big call of duty player, i did play modern warfare for a bit but never liked any call of duty games to follow. I did fall in love with Bad Company 2.
I love objective based games where its not about K/D but more about getting the job done and working as a team to support each other.
I believe this game is going to be a very nice change of pace from alot of the shooters out right now and the art style is just gorgeous.

I think that's whats differed from my cod experience than with most people. I had started playing the game with 3 friends, so teamwork was just included into the mix and vital. And i was just using it as an example, and I completely agree with what everyone is saying about teamwork and halo and bf both are great games. I was just using my personal experience.

Cod was still a lone wolf oriented game, you only needed one good player to win matches. BF needed a team in order to win objective matches. Brink is the only game that i have seen where it is only team based.

Honestly, I was never much into online FPS games until BFBC2, and it really opened up my eyes to the world of "strategic" shooters. I think this game will be able to go both ways to a certain extent. I could easily see some of the CoD style gamers lone wolfing it and doing well, while those who can truly approach the team aspect getting a lot done as well. I fell in love with BFBC2 just in the basis that I scored more points as a medic than I did as any other type, and I feel that those who are willing to cut back on the shooting and the Rambo tactic's to supply the team will earn more respect and love from the team as a whole.

Yes I agree with everyone lol, not trying to say one fps is SO much better than another, and I didn't mean to start a thread going that route. My whole point was that it seems brink will be the game that will let people truly advance in skill as much as they want. Teamwork is just one of many skills that are important in shooters. You need to be able to handle situations accordingly by yourself as well.

Either way, this will be one hell of a game, and should usher in a complex set of skills needed by every gamer of every kind

I am a very very little bit concerned about how it will play, but either way, the fact that i wont get stuck trying to run into a building because my "soldier" cant manage to navigate stairs correctly while running, then getting my head blown off by a 12 year old sounds appealing. at least i hope so... i mean if i can leap and jump and scale walls or what have you... i would hate to see my brilliance cut down by me only kryptonite... stairs!!!

Well I played a lot of cod specially modern warfare the first one but I stoped after that cus to me they were getting boring and not moving forward with the gameplay or different things with the game and also it got boring after a while playing online so what I see in brink is a well balanced game that forces you to play as a team and help toure teammates out and the most important things to me imo in a fps is the weapon balanced the weapons are balanced in brink from the videos I've seen so far and I'm very excited by that so yep that's my view of the game I can't wait for Tuesday here in america.

If SD holds true to their roots than there will be a significant learning curve. Thats why I like the challenge modes, a clever way to include interactive tutorials that reward you and are tied to leaderboards.

Goodnight / morning / afternoon?
