Bed Rentals

I was working on an inn and setting up the bed rental. I was under the impression that you couldn't sleep in a bed that was owned which now I find out is not true. I thought I did something wrong so I started a vanilla game and when into the Eight Plates picked the lock and activated the bed. Nothing prevented me from sleeping in it. So I went into several places and tried the beds and I was able to use them.
So really what is the purpose of assigning ownership and the global variable when you can activate and sleep in any bed that has the Bed Standard script which 99.9% of all the beds have attached.

if someone witnesses you trying to sleep in an owned bed, you get a crime bounty. so technically, as long as the beds aren't in an open area, then it's not a big deal if it has the whole global ownership.
