Sanctuary. Just starting a new game. Saved the group from Concorde and brought them back, etc. Built enough beds for everyone and assigned each person to one of them. Built a bed for myself but it keeps getting auto-assigned even though everyone else has their own bed. Scrapped one of the bed models and tried another but it keeps happening. This is a problem for me for two reasons: (1) I don't want to come back and find someone else sleeping in my bed, and to a lesser degree (2) sometimes I like to order a companion to sleep in my bed to keep them out of my way as I wander the settlement but they refuse to go there if it's "owned" (so I just make them sit in a chair).

So who is taking ownership of this bed if I've already assigned everyone else? There are only five settlers in Sanctuary at this point and enough beds for all of them. If it's a bug, then it's a particularly ingenious and almost intuitive one because somehow it knows the ONE bed I want to keep for myself and assigns it to no one in particular (whereas all the others show the red figure indicating "unowned" until I actually assign someone to it).

Are all the beds of the same quality? From what I have seen, the settlers will always choose a comfy bad over a bedroll.

Good question. I wondered that myself but when attempting to switch out different beds I found that it was happening even when they were all the same bed (the single bed).

I don't know if they have their preference for certain rooms either. I'm taking the far back room to the left, the one that used to be a bathroom, and giving the couple (Marcy and her husband?) the one across from that which is more of an open air room. I seriously doubt the game takes that into consideration since it's all one structure anyway. Also, in my last game, even though I had this same problem with the beds, I noticed the NPCs were still sleeping in their assigned beds.... So it's like I said, the bed I'm choosing just seems to be assigned to no one in particular.
