Been away, need help

Post » Sun Dec 07, 2014 5:57 am

I haven't played Skyrim in a very long time (before any DLC was released) and I just started playing again. But no waypoints show on my map, no floating markers even though they are selected in options, my position on the map is missing, and I thought there were more options to choose from like disabling the killcam, but options like that are not showing. I don't think I have any mods installed (how do I check?).

Any ideas on these issues?

Is this a fresh install?

There are several ways you can check to see if you have mods installed. You can look directly in your Data folder (Steam > SteamApps > common > Skyrim > Data). You can also view the list in your Skyrim Launcher. If you have utilities like Wrye Bash, Nexus Mod Manager or Mod Organizer installed you can open those up and see a list of your mods as well.

Disabling killcams was never a vanilla option. But your other issues definitely sound like mod problems. I'm going to ask a moderator to move this thread to the mods forum. You'll be more likely to get informed help there.

This is the original install from Steam and is up to date. I will look in the steam folder to see if there is something there. when I opened the Data option in the launcher it showed nothing.

Thanks.

Edit: could there be something in the ini file that I may have changed? or thru console command using the ~ ? I looked in the data folder and just see folders for video, strings, and interface. And bsa files for Skyrim - , animations, interface, meshes, misc, shaders, sounds, textures, voices, voicesixtra, update. And two .esm files, Skyrim and Update.

So I don't think those have to do with mods.

Was searching around and found in my downloads folder and found "Skyrim Compass Tuner" which was the issue. I will have to play with it some more as I still don't have my location showing on the map or active quest locations marked there either.

Thanks.
