If the first week or 2 of gameplay was anything to go by, they broke even alright. I don't think we'd see Crytek crying poor anytime soon. Might be different if everyone returned their games, but these days game refunds are difficult so most people just trade them in. They'd only be losing money on those stupid enough to buy second hand copies. ( i mean they'd be stupid for actually buying Crysis in any form)
If anything I think they aren't too concerned about rushing a patch out, they only seem worried about making more money off the DLC and little else.
I seriously would not be surprised if they have bailed on us.
You have to worry when the company of a much anticipated "block buster" talks like that.
Even fail companies say "oh yeah our 3rd game will be coming and it will be more awesomer!!!! oh yeah"
Not "might if we break even"
that's talk from people who knew they were releasing a shonky product IMO.
Fear not Crytek, work on your new projects, enjoy our cash now. Because if Crysis 2 dies totally and support vanishes, I can guarantee many of us won't buy your next game, Crysis 3 or not.
I for one will watch the developers and will avoid any game I see their name on, as many will form new companies to avoid the shame of their old ones from experience.
