Beginning of the game (SPOILERS)

Post » Mon Sep 27, 2010 9:12 am

Regarding the beginning of the game:

The game starts by you witnessing your own execution, before presumably, you are either rescued or given a reprieve.

This is how I think it will play out:

I think that we will see a hooded character's head from the back being dragged towards his/her's execution. Then the hood will be pulled back and the character creation interface will be opened.

I think it would be cool to witness this from first person.

It would be cool. But you have to constitute racial differences.

If it's first person, yes, it would be very possible. But if it's third person? How do you account for an Argonian/Khajiit not having a tail?

I was thinking it could be only from the neck upwards, to account for the potential racial conflicts. Also possible would be a temporarily compulsory first-person viewpoint (like FO3's beginning).

Interesting "theory", but where are you getting this?
You saying "spoilers" in the title of the thread would denote that you actually know how it will start, which you don't.

Well, the face gen thing never makes much sense does it? Witness the doctor in Fallout New Vegas. He sews your face back together in such a way that he doesn't know if you are male or female!!

Your idea of the black hood being ripped off to start the facial generational program sounds highly plausible...

We know that the game starts with the character witnessing his/her's own execution. It came from one of the magazines. I was just offering a theory on how it might play out.

Whatever the sequence and subsequent character creation will be like, I hope there's better lighting available than there was in Oblivion. That one flickering torch in a moldy dungeon didn't exactly provide the recommended lighting to set your complexion. When I crawled out of the sewer I looked like I just took a ride in a rollercoaster and threw up my last meal.

It's confirmed that we will start out like a prisoner, right? Then I'm 99 % sure that we will start out in jail, or a cage (or something similar).

It's confirmed that you start out as a prisoner. Who is about to be executed. And according to one of the international mags, Esbern comes and saves the day before you get your head lopped off.

it would be cool that. for example, a guard comes take you in your cell and he tells you okay prepare yourself its time and then you go in front of a miror and you begin the appearance creation. then, you are taken to the pilory and the guards tells you to look in the sky and he sees your birth sign or something and then BOOM! dragons crashes everything! ESCAPE TIEM!

Mirrors? Boring. How about you clamber out of your bedroll and you see your murky reflection in a puddle of water. You bend over to take a closer look, and then it starts.

Where is this info from?

If this is the case, why are our characters being executed?

This execution kind of worries me, What if we are told why we are getting executed.

"We are here to sentence ________ to death for the murder of ________"

I would hate that, would kill roleplaying.

I agree, whenever I was creating my character, I found the dim lighting to be rather troublesome, it wasn't helped by the fact that the second and final time you get to modify your character, the lighting wasn't much better. I know I've criticized the dungeons in Oblivion for being too bright, but when it comes to character creation, I make an exception, I want to be able to clearly see what I'm doing when customizing my character's appearance.

I thought it might be something like that, still, I could see the hood idea being done anyway, though more likely, it will be like in Oblivion where you start out in a cell and get the screen to choose your race, six, face and name, then some guard comes to lead you to your execution, and then just when the executioner is about to do his job, Esbern jumps in and saves you.

This execution kind of worries me, What if we are told why we are getting executed.

I'm assuming they just won't tell us, they didn't tell us what crimes got us arrested in Morrowind or Oblivion, after all.
