No beheading and no lost limbs

Post » Mon Jul 25, 2011 1:24 pm

it appears that we won't be able to behead our enemies as a "finishing" move nor cut off one of there limbs.....

if the game is M rated and has plenty of blood why the hell did they remove such a feature????

this makes me truly sad, though the game will still be pretty cool and playable I was hoping for this little sprinkle of realism in it, alas we must w8 for modders to do this YET AGAIN

I'm very disappointed Todd very disappointed :nono:

I'm sorry, but TES never had dismemberment. It wasn't removed from the series. Only Fallout had it.
(Edit: From the ones I played, I apologize if it was in Arena or Daggerfall.)

What's with you people why must you cut your opponent limb from limb and see their organs. Isn't a stab through the back good enough? This talk isn't sick it's sadistic
would you do this to a person in real life? cut them piece by piece? you'd do a quick clean kill/ i would

Calm down. In melee combat with sharp blades, things do occasionally tend to get detached.

I don't know why there couldn't be a finishing move like this, probably technical limitations.

On the other hand I don't know why would it be something that's really needed either...

Gore just wouldn't fit into The Elder Scrolls universe in my opinion. Heightened violence with the finishers, yes. But full blown decapitations and loss of limbs etc. just doesn't look or (having playing said mods for oblivion) feel right in my opinion.
Yes, it was fun at times in Oblivion with the various combat mods but they still just felt like that, like mods. They never truly fit in with the game and made me feel 'Yes! This is what Oblivion should have been like'.

All due respect to the modders they do fantastic jobs, but I'm still happy either way that Skyrim won't have this feature.
That being said it is quite intriguing to see what the modders can rustle up come November.

Not often... You know how hard it would be to cut through muscle and bone?

If I thought it would be the most effective way to dispatch my enemy, although that seems unlikely.

You're right Flamzes, I've edited my post accordingly. I don't want FO3 style gore, I would want it to be a big deal for a limb to be severed.

I share your disdain, but it you think about the whole merged armor thing they have going on it would be hard to implement any dismemberment, And like others have said, TES isn't really known for it anyways. It will be one of the first mods I'm sure.

Unless you were totally evil you wouldn't take some one's head off or cut them in half. maybe at most multiple stab wounds, but decapitation Purposefully? that's just Evil
i couldn't bring myself to do such a terrible deed

if I'm killing people in the video game I want to see realistic effects on them, heads flying, guts rolling, hands flying off, blood spraying everywhere..... cause killing people with out that just looks .... sick *shiver*

actually people that want to kill people and see no blood or violence what so ever freak me out

Not all dismemberment is intentional.

Also, killing people is a pretty terrible deed. Arguably worse than just taking somebody's arm off. I presume you'll be roleplaying as a pacifist?

actually cutting the head off is the most merciful way of killing someone with out making him suffer, in ancient times anyways.

It would be satisfying if it wasn't too often. I imagine getting a good ways in the game, detaching someone's arm, and saying "...Wait( wha just happened!?"

Why do you people always have to say "The system couldn't handle it"? Damn, IT COULD. People in Bethesda are no gods (Although it may seem :D). They didn't put it in because they didn't want to, or didn't think about it.

If you want gore and limbs flying around play Dead Space 2.

no no i know what your saying but i don't want gore to be excessive. i guess it's my morality even in a video game like red dead i could not bring myself kill a rabbit or a racoon i just thought they were to defenseless. now beheading a cave troll or a dragon ya sure.

The only game I have ever seen with a dismemberment system that "feels" right is Dead Rising 2, but you were killing zombies, and in actuality it wasn't realistic at all. Most games can't do dismemberment well. It usually consists of the limb falling off way too easy and unrealistic, or just flat out exploding (Fallout).

Go freshly sharpen your biggest knife, and chop yourself as hard as you can (don't). I'm telling you, nothing (well...) is gonna fall off.
