I really feel sorry for you because you miss so much. Is there a reason for your habit?

Well, maybe i will try a few. I always try to play the game in its vanilla state. I thought that using mods is almost like using the console commands to change the game. BUt maybe i will see what mods are out there and use one or two that are not completely game changing.

Oh no, mods are nothing like console commands, at least not as a general rule.

A mod can be something as simple as moving a table across the room. It's in a different location than vanilla, so that is a mod. It changes the game, but not in any major way.

A mod can also be a complete overhaul of graphics, sounds, combat, mechanics, leveling, perks, etc.

A mod can be anything in between, too. :)

One type of mod that you might be interested in is simply texture replacers as they merely change the visuals. These include everything visual in the game such as character models, clothing, armor, weapons, and environment (all elements of the environment from ground to trees, water, etc. as well as objects such as bottles, trays, etc.).

BTW, the Columbia build that the woman created uses almost no mods aside from the posters (an example of a texture replacer mod).

That's really impressive.. did you need a mod to mount the guns on the wall?

I read from the fallout facebook link that on the Columbia build, she used very few mods, the gun rack mod on nexus and a texture replacement for the posters. Other then that it took only a week or 2 of working in the building mode to get it right.

I had the songbird call song as my ringtone for a while but I had to change it. Kept scaring the crap out of me every time it went off, other people that heard it as well, even if they never heard of BioShock, they just knew. There's something weird about it I can't put my finger on.

Well, she (and others doing these big builds) also needs TONS of resources/materials, something the vanilla game restricts far too much unless the player uses glitches/exploits or goes into TGM.

Todd, we don't need infinite resources, but it is rather silly to tell players "go build a base/village" but then prevent them from doing so due to the complete lack of sufficient resources to complete even ONE settlement/base, let alone several (or 20-30).

So the gun rack I've seen pictures of, is a mod only? that's a bummer since I play on a ps4, was looking forward to having a wall displaying all my guns.

Yeah I really want an underwater one. Don't get me wrong. I still like the setup, but atmosphere *wink* wise Rapture rocked.

Well You can do it. Just incredibly slowly, or by combining the scrap from multiple sites, or by paying through the nose for shipments of materials.

I did it legit the first time, but from now on I'm going to say screw it and console it in. I play these games for creating stories, not for grinding for loot.

So you're saying that these mods are awesome, but you don't like using mods so you won't do this thing that you think is awesome.

I don't understand why some people have the view of modding that they have.

Mods can be incredibly simple. They don't have to be game changing. For example, I like the reticle and the tracking pips that we get from the recon scopes that we can put on rifles. However, I very much prefer the look of the standard scope. I installed a mod that simply replaces the texture of the recon scope with the texture of the regular scope. So now I can have the benefits of the recon scope and not be bothered by the appearance. Another example is the Proto Vault Suit mod that I have. It's simply a retexture of the standard Vault Suit to make it look a little bit better (in my opinion). It doesn't change anything about the game. It just makes it look more like I want it to.

Not all mods are meant to give you god-like invincibility...in fact the very vast majority of them aren't.

Agreed. All of my installed mods in Skyrim are for envirionment and outfit effects.

As far as Fallout 4 is concerned, currently almost all of my 62 mods are just for appearances and doing small things to change the settlement functions and such. I have mods to do things like add functional weapon racks so I can display guns. This isn't changing the game in any real way. It's just adding something that should have been included anyway.

The only mods I have that actually alter gameplay are a mod to boost the change in damage from the .50 receiver swap because I felt that it was completely underpowered in the vanilla game, and a mod to correct MacCready's glitched Killshot perk. Universal 95% chances of head shots is not the advertised 20% increase. So to further demonstrate my previous point, one of my mods is actually there for the sole purpose of making me -less- powerful.

True. Visual mods are great, could never play vanilla Skyrim again with it's ugly bodies for example. When I use mods to change gameplay than mostly to make it more challenging or immersive.

Most of the mods that I use are purely aesthetic. For example, it drives me crazy that despite having an incredibly ample supply of purified water (over 1000 being produced at Sanctuary), some of my settlers can't be bothered to wash their damn faces. So I installed a mod that cleans up their faces and makes them a little tougher in combat (more like a mid-level raider level of toughness). I put a lot of time into building up the Minutemen, and I'm not going to tolerate poor hygiene from them lol

Not all mods alter core gameplay mate, a lot are simply cosmetic changes and such for flavor. All that said, this is pretty amazing work, I would not mind adding something like this to my game. Forget the prydwyn!

That's the beauty of mods, you can change it however much you want. Use the mod manager as well, it's so easy.

I don't use any mods while playing the game to avoid potential side effects. But when I'm finished with the main story, I may want to mess around with some of the settlement mods.
