How are people on consoles supposed to do this? As it won't have any effect on the game what-so-ever, just write it in Microsoft Word or something...

I would love to write books.

And maybe sell them and have them sold. Become a famous writer.

I do this now
I use a pen and paper

OK, it'd be nice to be able to write your own in-game journal but if the developers have time to do that I want spears

I'd love to be able to write a book in game. Or rather, my characters would love to be able to write a journal.

Helena has more than once told me she'd love it if she could write her journal, rather than getting me to do it.

Option D: Don't care.

I was hoping instead of 'saving our game' we would have an option to 'add a new entry into your diary' as an immersion thing, but as for an option to literally type out pages...hmm, I wouldn't really care either way.

Helena should've stayed in school.

I'd love at least a note system, so that I could attach typed notes to a quest's journal entry to fill the inevitable information void. Notes for the world map would be cool too, so that I could note which dungeons hold what kind of enemy. Console users could get a list of prewritten notes to attach like the names of locations or mob types, or can type it with a virtual keyboard if they're feeling particularly masochistic.

Would svck for console players to have a digital keyboard popping up on the screen. Would do more bad than good for console players, and therefore it shouldn't be in TES.

I just installed an OB mod that does this. It's pretty nice, but it's still not something I really care about that much. I keep all I need to know in my head, or write something down on paper.

I'll have you know she's studying at the Arcane University. She's very well read, it's just that due to technical issues (xbox...) she has to get me to help her write her journal, as she has no way of doing it otherwise.

I've been wanting something like that for a while, I'd use it. Also, on the 360 you can use any ol USB keyboard, dunno about PS3.

What are you talking about? Get a controller keyboard. That's what I have. Makes writing on xbox just as fast perhaps even faster than a comp keyboard. Is for me anyway.

Definately. I would love this. And not just one!

I also want to make notes on maps, write stories, keep a recipe book, and have a screenshot album. These items could also be made to be removable from your inventory and placed on a table in your room. The screenshot album could be like a book of sketches or even made into a painting you could hang on your wall.

Oh, it's fun to dream about the possibilities...

I wouldn't mind a journal system that would write down entries in a journal as you progressed through the main quest, but I don't think it's an important feature.

I'll trade all of that for the ability to annotate the map though.

Both the 360 and PS3 support USB keyboards.

And yes, I'd love to see something like this.

That would be great. I'd probably be quite happy just being able to make notes on the map and write in all that blank parchment laying around, but would still like to see your ideas in game.

by hooking up a keyboard to our xbox/ps3.

I've always wanted this feature, that way i could find parchment and write myself notes etc... or hand dirty notes to some lusty argonian maids

That's a pretty casual way of looking at a TES game don't you think?

Maybe warriors like to run around smacking swords against rocks all day but mages love to read and write.
