Being a dragon?

Post » Fri Jan 21, 2011 4:24 am

Hey guys,

A few minutes ago I was reading the IGN interview with Todd Howard and on the end the IGN journalist asked:

His answer immediatly caught my eyes. He says: Not in the way you're asking. Perhaps it means you can transform yourself into a dragon? Shadeshift your Dragon Born character into a dragon?

Your thoughts?

i thought it had a more..humorous meaning...if you get me XD

Haha, when he said that, my first impression was the character in the dragon's mouth while it flies.

I think it's fairly obvious you become a dragon at some point in the game (most likely the end). Just think about it.

One plausible explanation for why, given information we already have, is by collecting so many dragon shouts throughout the game your character has finally internalized the complete essence of a dragon.

It was in the same section that he joked around about a $300 levitation DLC... :P

I have a feeling they're putting in a horse named 'Dragon' that you can ride as an easter egg. :P

However if you can actually ride a real dragon in 'some way', I'm betting it'll be combat related, as in, you can jump on its back to do a finishing move, or perhaps it'll pick you up and drop you off a ledge (ouch). :P

I think this is clearly the case its in a humorous part of the interview where Todd is joking about the cost of DLC and when he says 'not in the way your thinking' he is clearly implying that that the interviewer was asking if we could have 'relations' with the dragons. Its a joke.

(Spoiler)

Martin does something very similar at the end of Oblivion. I think it's plausible that it will be in Skyrim.

You mean turning into Akatosh?
Wouldnt bet on it.

he's not the only one, there's also Tosh Raka who's rumored to have become a dragon, and the dragons themselves are also rumored to have the ability to shapeshift.

Well, Tosh-Raka is nearly an anagram of Akatosh, so...

you can speculate that he transformed into an avatar of akatosh or that he really transformed into a dragon, the thing is...there is no definite proof as to what happened and that keeps the lore open for new lore additions like say, shapeshifting dragon shouts.

Yes it's very likely that the player will have the ability to turn into a dragon statue and die.

It is said that after Tiber Septem visited the Graybeards, no nord could look at him without seeing a dragon.

Be that fact or just a myth of Lore, I don't want to become a dragon.

We will not turn into a dragon.

/thread.

Why /thread?

If the OP thinks we may turn into a dragon, thats up to him,he's not harming anyone. He's speculating. Although i think todd was joking too, being able to turn into a dragon is not out of the question.
There are bits and bats out there in the lore, which may show it's possible. Besides,it's interesting to see peoples views on this, whether we think they are right or wrong. "I think" it was also said somewhere, that ocato could be a shapeshifter/dragon. I don't mind topics like this at all,and it's much better than topics about graphics, console wars etc.

It's not out of the question to think it could happen. The greybeards could be dragons themselves. We'll wait and see,but there is no harm in talking about it,whether we agree or not. :)

if it's in it only should be able to be acquired through a very difficult sidequest in a location only unlocked in the near end stage of the game where the player has probably already explored most of the world on foot. it should also have a few drawbacks that make sense for a dragon, like...being attacked on sight when you're near a city and etc.

Turning into a dragon should be an Argonian racial ability! Cause you know, they're basically draconians.
