Being Fat

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 8:40 am

I had another thought on being fat:
A very fat character may have trouble fitting into particular armor sets. This could lead to a stat reduction - which would be balanced out by some fat based stat buff...
Perhaps a fat character could be more charismatic.

Im quite the opposite of fat so no. I prefer to be able to relate somewhat to my PC if given the chance

Lol, nobody wants to FORCE you to use a fat character. They just want the option to be there.

You mean like a big fat jolly Santa?

I'm not fat, and I never want to make a fat character. I see enough of that in real life, unfortunately...

I want to see fat.

There's a condem on that guy's head... ...

I've wanted to rp a short, greasy, fat, bearded woman since the day I got my hands on Oblivion. Actually, I wanted her torso to be really short, and for her legs to be really long. Some kind of matrimonial abortion, from the sump of nightmare.

Her name is: Piemaker Maefwe!

She kills by folding villains in her ass crack, a special combo named: Bake Me A Cake!

I would love to see a fat body in red clothes stuck in the chimney of an abandoned house. :hubbahubba:

I would love to have that option.
I would love to be a fat wizard, maybe get a cool staff, a beard, and some blue robes. That would be awesome.

Not for my character, but I would like to see some NPCs are fat, rather than everyone having the same body.

I can't imagine how will all the fighting, travelling the wilds in harsh conditions and whatnot, my character could conceivably be fat. Besides, are there any fat Mer? Not to mention obesity rates were incomparably lower in medieval times so I would argue the same would apply to a medieval fantasy game.

This isn't a medieval fantasy world. No more than Glorantha or Tekumel, anyway. (OK, perhaps more so than these, but that's only where the unimaginative have usurped.) Anybody can get fat, unless they can't.

Portly thief character will be portly if I ever make him (her?).

I voted yes. Especially so that all NPCs don't look the same from the neck down.

Obesity is tightly related to the economy, and Tamriel has, more or less, medieval technology ad economy. I am not saying it is impossible, just that it should be much more rare than what we see in the 21st century, and that it would not make sense for an adventurer to be fat since we run around all day fighting, swimming, travelling in harsh conditions etc. Unless fast travel makes you fat that is.

But it doesn't need to make sense, that's what's liberating about art!

Well, whatever. I'm gonna be fat, and you can do what you want. I give you permission, iomind. :teehee:

Just because you work out doesn't mean you can't be fat. If you get as rich in this game as you got in OB, then eating yourself into a back-frown is certainly possible.

I'm just curious how BGS is implementing this from a technical standpoint? Assuming bone rigged characters it would require a lot of alternate meshes with some control (script) to ensure fat guy == fat shirt? Also require fat heads with fat necks for fat bodies. I really hope they aren't planning on doing all this with bone node scaling. It might look freakin' terrible with stretched uvmaps and self clipping. Conformulated bodies like the facegen heads in OB?

though I really doubt my PC will be fat, I'd really love to see some diversity. Hail to the fat bartender!

I'm a bit confused now. Has it been confirmed that we can change our character's size in a way to make them fat or not? A lot of people seem to be thinking that the question is whether or not it will be in the game at all.

I can't imagine my character being over-weight attempting the 7,000 steps.

Day one;
Grey Beard: "Dovahkiin"!
Me: "Almost there... *gasp* almost... *gasp*"
Grey Beard: "Dovahkiin"!
Me: "5000... *gasp* *hack* more to go"

Day three;
Grey Beard: "Dovahkiin"?
Me: "2000 more... *gasp* [censored]it"!

"Back then"? Back when? Nirn is not Earth-in-the-past.

The Nords are based of of the old norse viking people and they were warriors by 13 years old.

No, my character won't be fat... at least not my first one, but I'd like to be able to make a fat character if I ever feel like doing it. I hope there will be fat NPCs in the game.

Fat NPC's would be fun and would add to the diversity and immersion. However my character will be as fat as I am,wich is not so fat...well not alot. :) I also always try to shape my characters face according to mine, and the beard and tattoo options will help alot. I hope baldness will be back too,as it was in Morrowind. Completely bald head, beard and a tattoo. Hell I'll make Aldruin crap all over his cave just when I enter it. :P
