Being Fat

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 1:56 am

I am fat in real life, Yes I am superfical, I guess I watch too much TV and movies, But the hero shouldn't be Fat. Yeah, shamefull for me eh? :sadvaultboy:

You bring up a good point. Maybe I will make my character fat if I can. Guess I am so use to it, not having fat in games, I never thought of it.

Personally I wouldn't want a fat character but the option would be sweet!

I think that people are just thinking "fat or not fat". This is problem. We should look at the different shades of grey: You could be a muscular, but chubby (bulked up), you could be skin-and-bones, you could be skinny-fat (skinny, but with more % fat than muscle), obese, athletic, little bit muscular and little bit fat ("normal"). Think of the possibilities!

Only if they put the real elements in the game by gaining or losing weight, for instance too much skooma can be fatal and you will look pale and sick.

Oh? I thought it was a "confused turtle"
On topic, I think I'll make one fat character. The rest will either be thin or muscley.
And having a fat jolly bartender would be awesome. I can just imagine it...

Bartender: Ah, hello there friend! Haven't seen you around these parts lately.
Player: Yes, I've just arrived. Heard anything important going on?
Bartender: Hmm, well I heard one of Harlf's boys disapeared from a hunt the other day. His friend who went with him claimed it was a dragon and...
Bartender: Ah, don't mind me. I'm sure you didn't come to my bar just for idol pvssyr eh? What can I get you?

No. My main character is a girl, and shallow as I am, she will not be fat.

Thanks to http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1167008-oxm-uk-skyrim-interview-pictures/ I just laid eyes on some of the "new" screenshots (new to me at least) and I must say that my hopes for fat characters have been revived in full.

The main Nord fellow with the horny helmet is certainly not a cuddly-rolley-poly type of guy, but he does seem to have some good looking extra weight. The NPCs in the 5th screen also seem to be nice and rotund, although it could be their clothes. I do wish the woman on the porch was a bit more fleshed out...
But overall, I'm encouraged!

I cannot wait for my barrel chested, washtub bellied warrior to shout at dragons!

Odds are at some point that I'll make an emaciated "accountant"-type character as an "unlikely hero". Whether I ever make a "fat" character or not is open to debate, but I look forward to the possibility of seeing overweight, underweight, normal, and "muscular" NPCs in the game. Same with children, it makes for a far more immersive world when not everyone is blatantly the same "prime of life" age, other than a few with premature baldness or gray hair.

Didn't vote. There may be problems with armour if a character is too fat. Will the fat clip and show through the static armour mesh/shape?

On this topic though. My first PC game i ever owned was NHL99. Me and my friends used to make our own skaters and we would always make messed up looking guys. My friend would make a long tall stick guy and I would make a short, fat-as-I-could-make-him guy. Let me tell you, the laughs we got out of seeing this fat guy try to body check stick man (you could adjust stats so we gave tall skinny 100 checking and gave the dwarf like 20) and then falling down because he 'bounced' off, it was the funniest thing ever!

If your character is too fat, maybe he should have reduced stamina, jump height and have a lower disposition towards all NPC's. Wow that's harsh! But I'm fat so it's OK.

OK, Disclaimer. I'm NOT Fat. I'm in good shape.

If I were fat, I wouldn't want my character to be Fat, too. He would be fit and muscular, what I wish I would be. However, I might consider a fat character for some comedy situations. Like in Oblivion, equip a "roar" feature to my character, and one up those fat ugly trolls for an lol youtube video.

I cannot for the life of me think of a fat elf.

And I just hated those square jawed Bosmers in Oblivion.

I would love to see a fat body in red clothes stuck in the chimney of an abandoned house. :hubbahubba:

That could make a great easter egg

I think being fat adds so much personality and flavor to people.

WUT?!

Anyway I hope there are fat characters but mine will not be one of them...I had mods for OB so that my (and therefore every other) character was more muscled, cause I want my knight in shiny armor or barbaric warrior to be huge menacing foes.

Ill try an build something similar to myself, and being a tall thin athletic build I cannot see myself making a fat character, or indeed an over mussilly character
