Everyone can say how Star Wars Galaxies waas so awesome, but the truth is that it ultimately failed... I'd rather have ESO succeed, ty

All it would have taken was for SOE to actually LISTEN, and for LucasArts to have just let SOE off the leash.

The Community pretty much knew what it wanted out of the game. No EFFORT whatsoever was put forth to deliver even a single iota of it. And It was because LucasArts would not give SOE the freedom to act. But where is LucasArts now? Sold to Disney as part of the deal between them and George Lucas... And now summarily dissolved as no longer needed...

I await Episode VII, VIII and IX, and the MMO it will usher in. And who knows... Maybe under Disney, it will do what SWG failed to do...

One thing that games like Ultima Online and Star Wars Galaxies allowed that is missing from pretty much every other MMO on the market? A world which the players can make their own. I dearly hope that ESO becomes such an MMO, after it's fleshed itself out a bit post-launch. It's like MMO developers are scared of giving their players real freedom. THAT part did NOT fail in SWG.

to be fair, the suggestion isnt talking about 'musical magic' ... i would hate to see 'battle-bards' and the like.

Entertainer was not a playstyle i spent much time on in SWG but it WAS popular and provided an interesting, unique mechanic that encouraged socializing and community (things missing from most MMOs these days, outside of guilds ofc)
