Their shrines and other services become available to you, and you get to do stuff for them!

free set of guard armour, lot's of disposition from the imperial guilds/factions (pretty much all except the great houses and especially not the temple, they hate everyone it seems) and pointers to some real sweet pieces of equipment

Isn't that the Imperial Cult, as opposed to the Imperial Legion? I haven't rejoined either yet with my current character, but if memory serves, you only get the benefits of the shrines, etc, if you join the Cult.

Other then the first quest....it is a fairly slow moving guild and get for starting.

They send you to many places all over Morrowind, letting you learn the land a bit.

You get given a suit of guards armor as you go through.

The legion like you, which is good for many other quests in the game.

You can take from the evidence chest at a certain rank....getting your stolen items back if arrested.

You get access to the Imperial Shrines even without joining the Legion or the Cult. You get to use them for cheaper if you join the Cult.

Benefits are: fun questline.

Correct: "These cost 25 gold for non-members, 10 gold for Laymen and Novices, and are again free for Initiates and above."

Benefits are: fun questline.

No question of that. There were really a lot of guild-style organizations in Morrowind, and the variety of quests was one of the joys of the game.

I see it just like being a soldier or a cop in real life. May not pay well, is pretty dangerous, and no glory till you get real high up in the ranks.... but the honor and brotherhood alone are enough to retain most of the good members. It's a life-choice, and one to be proud of. Oh yeah, and the sweet gear.

You get a little plot of land when you retire too. Not that you get to retire in the game, so you'll never see it. Also, your character might come from the sort of family whose members join the military by default, like most noble colovian families.

It's a good questline, you get some decent equipment early on in the game (at no cost to you!), you get sent all over the map, and you can raid evidence chests. Some of the equipment you get toward the top of the guild is pretty awesome.

I like hearing the Legionnaires in town say, "Your bidding, Sir?" as I walk past. And come on, that Templar armor is to die for. :P
